Look, I like Ron Paul and many of the things he stands for, but I don't give a shit about voting or politics.
I'm not avoiding anything. You think RP is racist. Good for you. It doesn't change a fucking single thing in my life whether you love him or hate him. Like most political opinions, it is irrelevant.

Quotes were published in his newsletter. They're terrible quotes and reflect poorly on Paul. A gaffe? Yea, definitely. Honestly that shit would probably cost him the election if he were the nominee against Obama. But the man isn't a racist. He drudges on and on about judging people based on their individual merits instead of looking at people as groups...how the drug war unfairly punishes poor communities, etc. At best you could make the case that he is naive and that his policies would set us back. I would disagree, but that would be more valid than saying he is a racist.

This out of context quote was actually in reference to a study titled "Hobbling a Generation" that found that 60% of African Americans in Washington D.C had been arrested or charged with a crime.
The study revealed how racist the Washington D.C police departments were and the statistics strongly suggest that many many of those charged with crimes were actually innocent.
Ron Paul's quote was actually stating that based on how that percentage has been rising, that by this time, the police department has probably charged 95% of black men in D.C with crimes by now.
