improve eyesight naturally

I heard eating carrots helps too.

Its the beta carotene from the carrots, but i take 25,000IU beta carotene supplements per day. The MSM eye drops arrived today. What this does is help relieve the pressure from the eyes, helps damaged membranes and broken blood vessels. But what I want it most for is to keep the eyeball supple and allow nutrients to reach the eye.

With what I am doing now, I hope to improve by 0.5 diaptors every 6 months and if everything goes to plan, be above -1.0 after 2 years. Going to go to the opticians to get a thorough eye check every 6 months, and bump this thread with the results.

Here's a tip for those who want to not use glasses and find that they need to squint (squinting strains your eyes). Firstly buy pinhole glasses. When you really need to see the details such as the computer screen being too blurry, use the pinhole glasses. At other times go without glasses altogether (except when really needed such as driving), and if you feel like squinting to focus, blink instead. You could alternate between quick blinks and slow blink (closing eyes for one second). This normally brings things more into focus. Blinking in itself is good anyway, and we don't do enough of it while staring at the screen or watching TV.

I used to think carrots were great for vision, but I quickly learned that blueberries were even better.

For the past couple years I've been having a smoothie every morning for breakfast, and I always throw a cup of fresh organic blueberries in it. I buy them in bulk.

I swear I can see the difference (no pun intended). Not only is my vision sharper than ever but my night vision improved a LOT.

Interesting, I had not heard blueberries have significant impact compared to other fruits. Maybe its the antioxidants that are helping to clear up some conditions. What condition do you have?

Bilberries are supposed to be very good for eyesight. I used to take those supplements briefly a few years back, i'll look into them again.

ITT: People eat blueberries and other random fruits and supplements in order to somehow make their cornea's shorter/less curved.

If you have some other problem, like poor sight at night, then yes supplementation can help. However if you're short sighted, this stuff will do shit all, and has been repeatedly proven as ineffective in treating short sightedness.

So i've been doing eye exercises for roughtly 3 weeks now. Not worn my glasses except for driving. I do feel my vision have improved and I see things more clearly. Inaddition I noticed when i wear my glasses for driving, i literally feel the pulling of my eyes to accommodate the lens. Anyway, this could be all subjective, so I went for an eye test today. And here's the prescription:

Right eye -3.00 cyl -050
Left eye -3.00 cyl -050

My present glasses are -3.75 right and -3.25 left. Very happy with the results, as any improvement would have motivated me to persist. Was expecting a possible improvement of 0.25 diaptors due to recovering from transient myopia just by taking off the glasses but with the result for the left eye, I'm really impressed.

This is a new optician that I went to, and I told him I have been doing eye exercises for around 3 weeks before visiting. He said eye exercises strenghtens the eyes, but myopia is all genetics and so it will have no effect on myopia, yet he was unable to explain why I have a reduced prescription.

So i'm going to change my lens to the lower prescription. Next is my decision to continue using pinhole glasses to work at the computer or get very undercorrected glasses (like about -0.75 lenses) to allow for defocus training. I'm actually typing this with no glasses on and see the letters (quite blurry) while as before I can make out the letters at all.

A few days ago I started the David DeAngelis method of oscular training. So combining this with the bates method. I told the optician I'll be back in 3-6 months for another eye check, will bump thread with results.

Nice man! Impressive results. Keep us updated for sure!

here are the exercises I am doing:

sunning exercise - 10 mins
palming exercise - 10 mins and mini palms throughout the day
far distance viewing - 10 mins
shifting exercise - 6 mins
eye rotation exercise

I do these when i take a 10 min break every 50 minutes from the computer.

How the hell do you find the discipline to take a 10 min break every 50 mins is my question? :)

And how are you able to do far distance viewing for 10 mins? I get bored after a minute. I mean, do you just sit there and look through your window?

Last question: the MSM eye drops, when do you take them? And do you feel like they're making a difference?

This is a great thread. I will have to look up some of these exercises.

As far as knowing when to take break, the use of a timer really helps. I started the '50 minute work method' where I work distraction free (no email, phone, Web, etc) for 50 minutes then take a 20 minute break and repeat.

The timeout app for mac is very useful. I found it difficult in the past as I had to use my own timer and that did not work for me. I've also found that my eyes are less strained taking a break every 50 mins so it means better productivity when I do work. The timeout app also signals a break every 10 minutes where I look at the furthest thing for around 15 seconds. Overall I do not feel my productivity have fallen but have probably increased because of the breaks. Another point is that if I don't take a break every 50 minutes, its hard to find time to fit in my eye exercises.

I go make myself a cup of tea/coffee, then i walk out to the front of my house and look at the furthest building, which is probably around 150-200 meters away. Its a nice 10 minute break where I take much needed fresh air, while sipping my cuppa and looking at details from each window or any other detail. I do this once or twice a day as its one of the most useful exercise for myopics. It does not matter if the vision is very blurry, the act of looking far relaxes the eyes.

I go out for this even when it raining, so you could imagine on a rainy day, my neighbour would look out of the window and see me with my umbrella and a cup in my hand lol.

One other thing is the change of habits. In the past I used to look at near things such as the ground when I am walking, not because of lack of confidence but the tendency to want to see things that are clear to me. Now I look as far as possible, so when I am walking around, I look for the furthest building/tree or whatever in my direction. In any possible situation, I try to look as far as I can.

Since I am doing so many things at the same time, I cannot say what MSM eye drops have done for me. My wife had an itchy eye the other day, and she applied 2 drops. It got rid of the itchiness pretty quick.

I drop 2 in each eye once or twice a day. The first drop is in the morning or early afternoon. The second would be in the evening.

Dude, thanks for that time out app. I've been using it for a while now (I was using Ebens timer method before) and it has seriously increased my productivity. It really fits with the whole concept of inevitability thinking.

Also, congrats on the eyesight improvement. I have the exact same eyesight as you did before your new results, so I'm going to follow your eye regimen and update the thread as well.

Most important thing to do is not to wear your fully prescribed glasses anymore except when you really have to such as driving. For computer work and close distance work, I use pinhole glasses but that does take a while to get used to. Your alternative to pinhole glasses is getting uncorrected glasses. For near work, you could try an under correction of 2-2.5 diaptors. Your highstreet opticians probably won't do this for you, but you can buy them online.

Here is the eye rotation exercise i do everyday:

Oscular stretching, without moving your head:
Look up as far as possible, then look as down as far as possible. Do this 10 times
Look right as far as possible, then look as left as far as possible. Do this 10 times
Look up as top-right as possible, then look as bottom-left as far as possible. Do this 10 times
Look up as top-left as possible, then look as bottom-right as possible. Do this 10 times

At first, you'll feel the strain, and you may even feel yourself getting a headache. You need to build up to 10 times gradually over a number of days. This exercise helps your extrinsic oscular muscles to strengthen, stretch and regain its flexibility.

Finish off with 10 rotations clockwise and 10 rotations anti-clockwise (rotations can be quick). Its good to palm your eyes afterwards.

What I've started doing now is slow cyclorotations, but that is only after 3 weeks of the above training to build up strength/flexibilty as its pretty intense. Once you get this far, I can show you how its done.

What the Bates method is missing is building the strength in the extrinsic oscular muscles. We can only go so far with the Bates relaxation techniques. Combining it with oscular training should push the improvements further and more quickly.

There are people that claims they have achieved 20/20 sight naturally. In terms of the speed of improvement, it's really specific to each person on factors such as how short sighted they are, the methods they use, how consistent they are with the exercises and whether they have the commitment perseverance to get past any stumbling blocks. Theres a guy in another forum that says he managed to reduce his prescription from -8.00 to -1.00 in about 1 and a half years. That is really quick in my opinion. My goals for improvement are pretty modest, and is 0.5 diaptors per half year. If I improve faster than that, I'll be thrilled.

I'd go with cutting out the habits that lead to degraded vision in the first place (reading in the dark, excessive TV etc) and diet helps
