Microsoft are definitely dead to me.

Holy Crap you guys are old 0.o

Here's a picture of me using my first web browser:

That's some ARPANET shit right there.

Prodigy...

Carry on...

Damn I just had a vivid flashback of using prodigy and that made me think of pirating my first mp3.. mIRC, some specific room, you had to type in something like @find songname and I forget the rest.

LOL wow that was a long time ago.

Compuserve, Netscape Navigator.... ahh the memories.

Having to wait 5 mins for a picture to load on a 56k modem, i dont miss the slow speeds but there was something cool about hearing the dial-up modem connecting.

Going to the library to use their internet to check NBA scores.

Downloading SNES roms and taking about 3 hours to do so

Using Kazaa for porn

Brb everyone on Napster time

Maybe these are later, but what a difference the internet made to our generation eh? I suppose we're the last generation to grow up as kids without the internet. Not going to get all sentimental, I think it's generally better with the internet as kids can figure out a lot more things online, than we ever could. But I doubt finding tranny porn or 2 girls 1 cup as a 12 year old is healhty. I don't know, lots of young kids today seem either really, really smart or complete morons.

When I was 14, the national newspaper had a 16 year old topless girl as their 'page 3' girl. The world got a lot more uptight since the 90s.

Microsoft is like a night club that has slowly become unpopular. Instead of having dickhead bouncers and charging you $20 at the door, all of a sudden they need you back so they let you in for free and give you a free drink at the bar. It's the best time to go back to Microsoft.

What version of IE were you using? I have had no problems with IE10 and am loving it. Switching between Chrome, Firefox and IE and find myself working more and more in IE.

Realize MS has screwed up on several products but I've come around on Microsoft over the last couple of years. XBOX360, Kinect, the new Windows Phone are great and Surface Pro looks like a winner. Deduct points for a brown Zune!

Loved 95, lukewarm on 98, ME - BARF, XP rock solid after SP1 and better with time, Vista Disaster, Win7 great, Win8 - after you get used to the UI - pretty dang good.

Played around with MS Surface Pro and loving it so much that I'm buying one in the morning. Best unbiased reviews I've found are:

Microsoft Surface Pro Review | Ubergizmo
AnandTech - Microsoft Surface Pro Review

They did a AMA on Reddit here: I am Panos Panay with the Surface Windows 8 Pro Engineering Team AMAA. : IAmA

41GB's for OS is bs. The review versions they sent out had some more dev stuff on it and one of the big things is that they include the Recovery partition on the drive. They leave it up to the customer to move it or not but its there, just in case. Funny thing is, nobody ever bitched about the OS size on their laptops or macbooks full of bloatware.

In addition if you are so worried about fitting your entire pr0n collection on there, get yourself a 128gb micro SD card - problem solved. Oh yeah... you can do that with the Pro! Soon bigger and bigger cards are going to be released (theoretically up to 2TB) and space is not much of an issue anymore.

The biggest bitch I've heard is about not being able to type with the keyboard in your lap. If that is THAT important to you - you are probably better of with a ultrabook. Its not much of an issue for me since I very seldom type with a laptop in my lap.

Try less than half that...

Windows 8 system requirements
If you want to run Windows 8 on your PC, here's what it takes:

...

Hard disk space: 16 GB (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit)

That video review by The Verge mentioned 41GB for the OS. I am guessing that they must have a big recovery partition enabled.

I think the "64GB" SSD is only 59GB when formatted too, so that explains 5 of the missing 41GB.
