I just got one and I don't know if I'm supposed to tip her or not. Don't they just get like a Xmas bonus or something?

pro tip: casually mention to your "friend" on the phone - when she is in earshot of course - that you have cameras all over your place, and you'll never have to worry about them stealing from you.
 
I don't have a maid, but I do have a cleaning lady that comes by once a week. One of the perks of living in Asia. You can get a cleaning lady for $15/week.

But no, I don't give any tips in money, but I guess I do tip. She gets all the empty bottles / cans, she gets used clothing, just a while ago I gave her a good sized toaster oven that I bought for around $200, and things like that.

Once she needed help, which I was happy to provide, because I trust her, and know she wouldn't ask unless she really needed it. Was only like $30 anyway, and is just what you do when you live in a Buddhist society.
 
I miss having a housekeeper. But when I did, I always paid he a bit more than she was owed, so I guess that's a tip.
 
I never tip my service workers but I do give an extremely generous gift at the holidays depending on the person and how well they did their job that year.
 
Most maids will fuck up/break something in your house, so if you give them a tip never tell them about it, so when that something happens you'll be able to reach into the tip jar ...

We do pay our maid very well comparably and we do give her stuff based on needs as well. We also pay her a 13th month and give her 2.5 weeks vacation yearly. We never give extra cash as that has never worked.
 
I used to have a cleaner that came a couple times a week. Then, she was apparently cleaning/dusting the top of my bookcase. I had $25k in cash up there at one time, when I counted it there was $24,000. So either the maid or Amanda got up in my shit but Amanda has all my fucking debit and credit cards anyway, so I am 99% sure it was the house cleaner.

It is nice as fuck to have someone clean your house though.
