Interesting vid. Really shows you how the middle class is getting screwed.

Even worse in Canada. Middle class basically pays for both the low and upper classes. The worst job is teaching, 40k a year and 20k after all the taxes. Very rewarding on a spiritual level I'm sure, but fuck...

It's the same in India too! work hard, pay taxes and then politicians fuck you over.

Didn't know it was that bad, still one of the greatest countries in the world to live, raise a family and educate your children.

Teacher pay: Canada near the top of the OECD class - The Globe and Mail

For elementary teachers, the starting salary in Canada (all data are as of 2010) was $34,443, although a teacher with fifteen years of experience earns $54,978. In contrast, the OECD average is a top salary of $37,603. U.S. elementary teachers start at $36,858, but have a top salary after fifteen years of $45,226. Data for teachers at the secondary level tell the same story too: Canadian teachers do a bit better than the average.

Wealth inequality is only going to get worse. I'm just happy to be on the right side of it. lol
A participatory democracy doesn't mean a participatory economy.

But the living standard of the middle class has increased int terms of conveniences such as electronics and affordable energy. Other costs have gone nuts such as education, insurance and healthcare.

The bottom 50% of Americans have absolutely no interest in building wealth.

30% of Americans rent (Which is essentially a enemy to wealth).

Another 20% to 30% who own are more than happy to continually cash-out their equity for useless crap (Which also destroys wealth).

In my day job (Real estate) I have the chance to meet MANY multi-millionaires. I've found personally they all have 1 thing in common - They are VERY hard workers who save money.

How they became a millionaire can vary a bit, but they all learned to save at a early age.

At 27, my brother and I have wealth far beyond our parents because before we were teenagers we were taught to save. Even though my parents never could get the hang of it, we saved most of the money we came across and have learned on our own to invest it in things that aren't depreciating assets.

Is renting really that bad of an idea? I remember Peter Schiff talking about how renting makes more sense than buying.

Yeah it's a great country to raise a family, but still you don't want to be teaching. The shit high school teachers have to deal with on a daily basis for 34k a year. I don't know how they do it. No wonder they go on sick leaves every year. Even double their current salary isn't enough considering what they have to put up with.

While I don't disagree that tax-wise the middle class is the highest burdened, your source for the salary quote must be incorrect. Teaching in Canada is very well paid, from both a salary and benefits perspective.

In some cases it is better than buying.

If you're not going to be in an area for > 7 years it may not be a good idea.

Some crazy expensive markets that rent for a fraction of the costs but people still invest for the appreciation (DC for example), or places with rent control that restrict rent increases well below market value.

I have a house in a state I haven't lived for 9+ years and it's a pain in the ass despite tax write-offs.

Health care fucks the lower working class. If you have nothing you get all kinds of assistance, if you have a little bit you're on the hook for huge bills and go bankrupt, with insurance....

So fucking true. Goddam Blue Shield just raised their premiums again so they could be competive. Assholes.

Traditional public/private education (k-12) is not only shitty for teachers, it's even more shitty for students. Forced there almost always against their will, forced to learn this for this n' that when they're told, forced to be with others regardless of their preferences, forced to eat at X/Y time. Fuck.

My first HS reunion is next month and we have the option of going through the halls; that'll be real fun!

The real wealth inequality is between private and gov't workers. In California, there are thousands of parasitic workers that make in excess of 100k/year with up to 50k or more in annual benefits, even in such shit cities as Santa Ana where 90% of residents are illegals! I believe the average feral gov't parasite steals about 100k/year too.

who cares we be "poppin tags"

It depends on your time frame, in the short term renting tends to be better if your planning on moving somewhere different. Over the long term, the money you pay for the mortgage is basically a savings and wealth building mechanism.
