HTC One

I need to make a choice between both and it seems I am going to go with S4.
HTCs are usually below Galaxies but I considered HTC One because of its superior exterior and look. Final decision is still pending.

Reasons I chose the HTC one
Better display
less bloated
doesn't look like shit
dev unlockable
open hardware and kernel source
better low light performance
MUCH better sound quality
better front facing camera
less invasive skin
not boycotted by CM
perfect screen size compared to S4
premium weight/curved back, a plus not a minus
no gimmicky features that slow it down

I am upgrading from an s3.

Where do you plan on buying it? From around here or online? What carrier are you planning on using?

I'm torn between this or a S4 or a Note II. A friend pointed out today that if I were to buy the HTC One, ideally I'd want to try to get my hands on the Chinese version that has dual SIM slots and also has a SD card slot.

Great points. My biggest fear with the HTC One has been battery life, especially with it being non user removable. Is being htcdev unlockable, less bloatware and having CM ROMs really that much of a big deal though? The S3 was pretty easily rootable with CF Autoroot and the S4 should be the same (except for a couple nasty carriers like Verizon).

^^ as long as you dont play games or use skype continuously you will get maximum battery life.

HTC=great Camera quality + Video quality when you compare with samsung...i use HTC desire SV currently, but i was using HTC one V for 6 months which is really is suberb....

If you are confused between two branded android phones, always pickup Samsung! Also what's surprising is no one has yet compared the above phones with Iphone 5 :D

Amazon sim free.

What's there to compare? They both make the Iphone 5 look like an old dog, except maybe for build materials. When we get details about the 5S or 6 or whatever the next one is then we'll probably talk about it.

I have a HTC One X which I purchased about 12 months ago. Overall great phone BUT when they pushed the new android operating system out to it...it completely bricked the fucker. It was still under warranty so no big deal...or so I thought.

Trying to get HTC to honor a waranty is like asking for a refund after you just banged a hooker. The fuckers delayed delayed delayed and then wanted me to pay shipping and everything else under the sun. I eventually threatened to sue in small claims court because they were clearly breaching what was stated in the warranty agreement. They basically laughed and said go for it.

The upshot is that they never honoured the warranty...I sued in small claims court and got an order for the cost of the phone (because they never showed up) it then took me about 5 months to finally collect after having to threaten to go back to court to get a charging order for the equipment located in their offices in town here.

Crazy fucking story and the worst company i've ever dealt with.

You've got way too much fuckin time on your hands brah

after carrying arround the Nokia Lumia 920 in my jeans for 2 weeks I'm convinced that I will never buy such big/heavy phones. This is why I fuck the HTC one as well (iPhone ftw)

I'm a previous Lumia 920 owner and just switched to the HTC One. There is a huuuuuuuge difference in the weight / feel between these phones. I knew the Lumia was heavy, but it took getting a more recent flagship phone in my hand to see just how heavy it is.

The HTC One will not feel big OR heavy to you, I can assure you. It's quite light and very thin.

I feel you jryan, and to me this wouldn't be much about time spent (either?). I hate being taken advantage of like this, and although I haven't actually sued over something like this, I do go to great lenghts when people and companies want to fuck with me.

#firstworldproblems

Srsly though, the One's retro 90s looking silver case is a real turn off. Give it a dark black/brown/blue one please HTC.

There is a black version too.

Yeah it was more about the fucking customer service managers laughing at me over the phone to go for it and that I wouldn't win. That is what pissed me off enough to spend my time on it for a bit. I hate it when people are that arrogant.

Anyway, the phone rocks...cant fault it really...great little system and the camera is awesome.

Camera 4 MP VS 13 MP = Fail. S4 wins.

Why's it a fail? The image quality from a lower resolution more sensitive CMOS (bigger pixels that capture more light) is going to be vastly superior up to it's maximum print size and a bit beyond, which will be close to 8"x10" in the case of a 4mp sensor. Yeah, you could enlarge a 13mp further, as it has more detail captured, but it's most likely going to be a darker and much noisier image. Considering a phone is generally used for point and shoot snapshots that are typically going to appear on screen, and not for professional photography, I'd rather have the superior image quality over larger darker/noisier images. I've got my DSLR for serious photography.
