So THAT'S what happened... I thought there was something different going on. Also appears there may be new restrictions/making it tougher to view profiles of gals in other countries.
As stated, people will just create a fake account, which will result in POF ending up with a (more) compromised, fraudulent profile base along with irked users. :-/

Makes a lot of sense actually (aside from it encouraging people to lie more). As a free dating site their lifeblood is young attractive women, and they can't be having them all get scared off.
From a marketing perspective this is going to be huge for date younger women offers on there. Some great campaign ideas to be had from this in the next few weeks

Just set it so users can choose the minimum and maximum ages (and gender, height, body type, etc) for what people can contact them. Messages from anyone outside of those ranges goes into the trash. Better for everyone, imo.

These women aren't interested in 35 year old neckbeards with clammy palms and they get pissed off with the sheer volume of unwanted messages from people they'd never date in a million years, it causes them to leave.

This is true. I joined a dating site (laugh and I'll kill all of you) awhile back. It was an absolute nightmare. And I'm not the best looking girl but holy fuck it was just a flood of winks, messages, requests... having to sift through all that BS made me quit.
I have to say that I don't think that the age restriction is the answer though... I only date guys at least 10 years older than me. They instead need to let women set parameters themselves and a guy that falls out of those parameters should be sent to my spam folder if he tries to contact me. I shouldn't even show up in his search results. JMO
OkCupid does that, I believe. People rated as being attractive have their own search results.
