Time travel into the future is endemic, we are all constantly travelling forward in time at almost light speed. This is our default state.

Special Relativity tells us that if we travel through space, our speed through time reduces proportionately, akin to if you travel north east by car at the same speed as another car travelling due north, your distance travelled to the north will be less than the other car which channeled all of it's speed in the north direction. Normally, the speed we travel through space is so negligible, compared to the speed of light, we don't notice any variation in our speed though time, but if you could approach the speed of light, you would notice it increasingly so, compared to someone who was comparatively stationary.

In short, if you flew around the Universe at 90% of the speed of light (the direction does not matter), and returned to Earth, everyone you knew would be long dead and you'd return in what was their far future. Of course, this is highly improbable, as the amount of energy required to achieve that speed, for someone of your mass, is absurdly impossible, especially assuming you have to accelerate the mass of the fuel as well. The only reason light manages it, is because photons are essentially massless (their energy has mass, but it's as small as possible).

Travel backwards in time is probably not possible.

I am not convinced that forward time travel is not possible.

physically, travelling backwards in time isnt even that big of a deal. that those poor little engineers cant make it work is just a matter of centuries.

Nah fuck that. Time travel is possible. They just don't come back in time and announce themselves or they could disrupt something that changes the future for the worse. For example when the Legion went back in time to help Superman kill Brainiac, but wouldn't give him any details on the rest of his life because they didn't want to accidentally affect the future negatively.

Hm. Hypothetical speaking, letting beside the engineering details and accepting our actual knowledge of science as facts;
wouldn't it be as easy as launching with your space ship into orbit, zipping around the solar system in circles for 2 hours at 99% speed of light and coming back to a world where 150 years have passed ?
Time is relative, after all.
 
Mass probably isn't ever going back without some 'tear of the fabric of space' wormhole shit... Not likely happening in the next few hundred millennia.

However I can easily see data being sent back in time, at least a few hours or days by using exotic faster-than-light particles sent around the solar system, bouncing off of a string of satellites we have orbiting the sun. Totally doable.
