Chill. Most cops wear something on their head, right? Hijabs are just head coverings, they don't cover the face. I expect they let male Sikhs wear turbans too - if it doesn't cover the face it's just a form of hat.
Some people like covering their head - have you ever seen Elizabeth II - you know, Queen of Canada - on a public occasion without something on her head, whether tiara, hat or scarf (Her Maj doesn't even drive a car on her own estates without her head scarf on)?
What's the difference between these two photos, apart from their age?
If the head of state is allowed to do it, why shouldn't a citizen?
(Of course you can get rid of Liz and her strange ways too, but nobody seems to be talking about that, only the muslimy person seems to be targeted, which is a bit unfair)

I get annoyed when I see hijabs and and burqas, because to me they just represent a nasty oppressive religion. However, we let the Sikhs do it, so why not the Muslims?

Yeah that's what I've been saying for years. You can't let the Sikhs wear turbans and Jews wear their Kippah, and then tell Muslims they can't have the same privilege.
Anyways, to me there's HUGE difference between a burqa and a hijab. One if just like a scarf or a veil that covers your hair, one is a complete body and face cover-up that renders the person unrecognisable. I have no problem with hijabs, but I do have one with burqas.
Besides, Canada is different than France and the U.S., we never cared how people dressed or worshipped. The only thing we should ban is full face cover ups like the Burqa and Niqab because the person can't be identified, but anything else, who gives a fuck? As long as you pay your taxes and are willing to help build this giant country with us, welcome aboard motherfucker!
I should have worded that differently, but just to be clear, I wasn't trying to say they were the same and I also don't really mind the hijab. Plus if you're a burqa wearer, I doubt you're going to be applying to be a cop when you can't even leave the house without a male companion.
Why does being able to identify someone matter? Incase they might commit a crime? Why not just arrest them before they commit the crime? Then it wouldnt matter if they could be identified.
Yup. Robin in the Hood was an Outlaw for that very reason. And Hoodies today are banned from some private malls in the UK (such as Bluewater) for the same reason (they tend to pinch mobile phones and you can't identify them because they're obscured by the Hood, Robin-style). They can't be banned from public spaces like streets or parks though, because since Cromwell's dress-code madness was overturned, freedom to choose your style of dress in public spaces has remained (English law that has gone into Canadian and Australian law).
Anglo-Saxon law is a bitch. You are innocent till proven guilty and no-one can be detained against their will if no crime has been committed. We don't really do internment except if Parliament has declared war (and neither do the Canadians).
