Telling people you do online marketing...

If you think what he said was disrespectful, you should confront him (ie. ask him what he meant by it, call him a name, punch him in the dick, etc.)

when you value yourself so little you have to get back at every little insignificant bitch that happened to blink in and out of existence, thats when youve really made it.

why are you being so weak?

What are you talking about? I'm in a situation where I'm not sure if he's being sarcastic or serious, so I let it go because I'll be seeing this guy for a while since we will be in the same common areas now.

Who the fuck responds to "What do you do?" with "I'm an Internet Marketer" that *isn't* just peddling some bullshit in the comments of the dead spinblogs of other Internet Marketers?

Sounds like the guy was giving you the benefit of the doubt, m8.

I tell people i'm a forklift operator at Home Depot.

Why do you care what other people say or think about you?

Worrying about what other people think is beta behavior.

TODAY AT WORK THIS GUY WAS RUDE TO ME.. I MEAN, I THINK HE WAS RUDE TO ME, I DON'T KNOW, HE WAS JUST MAKING CONVERSATION.. BUT I DIDN'T LIKE HIS TONE AND HE MADE ME FEEL REALLY INSECURE BY SAYING THAT THERE ARE A LOT OF PEOPLE IN MY FIELD!! IT UPSET ME SO MUCH UNTIL I GOT HOME AND MADE A THREAD, NOW I FEEL BETTER. THANKS WICKEDFIRE.

well it's kind of tough talking to people who thinks they have it all, even by only having a day job which is at the end of the day, struggling to make ends meet.

And what your education exactly is? Kicking a round ball?

:arcadefreak:

Ha if i could kick a ball around like that guy I would be spending my weekends sampling the fine teets of those girls down the road at Hooters...

i tell people i'm a CEO. this is usually followed by both male and females getting on their knees and swallowing my seed in hopes of receiving something (hoping its monetary) from me in return. little do they know the only thing they will get from me is my seed.

Guy's don't really give a shit on what a guy does, most of the "What do you do" questions come from women, to narrow down on if she wants to continue talking to you or walk away, most of the time I have a smart ass answer, like I give a fuck what you think of me, go find someone else to fuck and get impregnated.

Would you say that is more of an European thing or just a human thing in general? I am in the UK, people are amazed that I don't want to do the whole grad scheme thing based on the degree I have. They have said to me that I am throwing all of my education away and could make a difference in the corporate world in a "real career in the city". I used to respond to them but these days I just go "whatever..". I see entrepreneurship as a way more appealing way of living. It's weird that my whole have their own businesses but think that just because I have a degree I should get a job in the city. I would rather work 16 hours a day for my own business than work 8 hours a day for some corporate grad role. Tried the whole city job thing, hated it, I am earning less money for now but I am enjoying my work.

Edit: I don't actually believe in the idea of a career. I believe that working is just a means to an end: stacking up as much money as possible.

(I'm in the UK too)

People here are just very risk averse I find. Failure is also not tolerated nearly as well as it is in other cultures. Americans have the whole "American dream" thing going, and to a bigger extent admire people that are successful, or are trying to be successful.

I find here in the UK people tend to be jealous/envious/look down on the wealthy or people who are doing well through business. They "got lucky". Likewise if you say you're starting a business, people think you're a bit of a joke until you're doing really well. Having a career like being a doctor/lawyer/whatever tends to be a hell of a lot more respected over here.

don't you think the little start up communities in london and berlin are starting to celebrate failure lately as more successful entrepreneurs keep coming out of there, and slowly moving in the direction of silicon valley?

also of course doctors/lawyers are more respected off the bat, those professions have always been symbols of social stability.
