That '73 logo was the most iconic one of the bunch. Should've kept that.

How do you go from the concept of inside of an orange (the juice) to squeezing your mom and kids with love and affection? What he said absolutely made no sense and it seems like he was caught off guard with the question as he stumbled through it.
As for as all text logos go, I've always thought that Gap had a distinguishable logo that created brand awareness.
But for some reason, they wanted to ditch it in 2010 and replace it with a new one. That went over about as well as New Coke.
After one week, they had changed back to the old one after public backlash.

I really think GAP completely played the public and media on this one. I don't think they ever had any intention to use that logo. They put it out there to cause controversy and to get enormous amounts of free press. The only place the logo ever got used was a brief appearance on a single popup shop.
I do think the current logo could use a typographical face lift however. Nothing major, the logo could remain largely unchanged, save for a more contemporary font choice.
