I used headphones for years but one moment is all it took for me to get permanent tinnitus. I didn't know the volume was at 100 percent, I pressed play on some music and boom ears are fucked. Can't wear headphones or go to concerts anymore. Its there for the rest of my life unless stemcell therapy cures it. Don't take silence for granted.

Well that sucks. How bad is it? I've had it for a few years, mine's very similar to the sound in the above Archer video, but very quiet, and I can hear it only in complete silence.

Lipo-Flavonoid® Plus - Lipo-Flavonoid® Plus is supposed to help with tinnitus. *

3 months. Its bad somedays and almost silent other days.

I was in the hearing loss industry for years, and I've heard the horror stories of what happens to people.

I highly recommend that everyone keep a bottle of NAC around the house. It's one of the single best antioxidants around. It's the best way to raise glutathione levels in the body. Nac has been studied a shit-ton in regards to hearing loss. Even by the US Navy. The results are clear that taking NAC before, or even within an amount of time afterwards can prevent hearing problems and tinnitus.

I take NAC with me anytime I go to bars. It detoxes the liver, and protects my ears against the always too loud music.

Since you already have tinnitus, there are some things that might help on top of the Nac. Some people get relief, while others do not:
- High does magnesium + zinc
- High dosed antioxidants in general
- Vinpocetine
- Ginkgo extract is often recommended. But I'm hesitant to recommend it.
- Alpha Lipoic Acid combined with Acetyl L Carnitine.

Hope it helps bud.

I lost my ears due to standing too close to these bastards for years:

The ringing comes and goes and there's nothing I can do about it. Background noise helps.

Zinc has helped a bit but it may just a placebo effect. This is very interesting http://www.tinnitustalk.com/threads/my-trip-to-bangkok-stem-cell-treatment-comments.1891/

Eventually you won't hear it anymore unless you focus on hearing it

It does make hearing people in large rooms very though, i can't tell voices apart in a club or loud place

Same here. Used to be BIG into car audio when I was younger (won many contests etc.) and my ears are fubared too. Fortunately it's not that bad, just a little ringing that's usually not really noticeable unless it's really quiet.

If you hear ringing after doing something w/ loud noises try earplugs.

I used to play in a rock band years back and would hear ringing after long jam session.

Earplugs become your friends.

And here i am mailing headphones to people like some sort of villain.

You should be ashamed. I sleep well at night knowing I've helped stay at home moms lose weight via products that the most notable of doctors recommend.

Went to a few concerts and bars where my ears rang between 1-3 days. Now it's earplugs all the time, I carry a pack in my car as well. I didn't have them one night at an excessively loud bar so I went to the bathroom and made TP plugs... I'll take looking silly for one night over feeling silly for the rest of my life. Some people just don't know this condition exists, and that honest headphone mistake - man that's rough, hopefully it gets a bit better.

Lifestyle changes that may help you manage tinnitus include:
  • Diet – scientific trials are needed to prove or disprove that suspected foods make tinnitus worse. You could try easing off caffeine (tea, coffee, chocolate or cola drinks), quinine (tonic water) and alcohol as they can temporarily worsen tinnitus for some people. You do not have to avoid these items altogether. Just be aware they may temporarily increase your tinnitus. Carbohydrate-rich meals, for example, pasta, followed by cake, can have a calming or sedating effect, which can be helpful. However, give yourself time to digest your meal before you go to bed to help avoid a disturbed sleep
  • Quitting smoking – smoking narrows the blood vessels that supply vital oxygen to your ears and their sensory cells

I'm always using headphones on full blast. I'm noticing a ringing after turning off the music, so yeah Imma tone it down moving forward.
