Oh yeah, and (for WH sites) I have no issue with leaving the link to the creator of the template. I DO have issue with sites that have nothing to do with the creation of the template. GPL is intended to always leave credit to the creators, not whoever the fuck paid the creators.
Oh yeah, if the creator pisses me off and tries to encode/hide the links to the random sites, THEN I will remove his. And for BH sites, chances are they don't even want the backlinks they'd be getting from a few dozen cloaked sites.
I disagree with the GPL argument and believe if people want a link it is fine. The creation of CSS, templates and themes are totally separate works and do not have to fall under GPL to be used with a product under GPL.
However, the witch hunt is wack.

More importantly, I don't recall Nickycakes' blog being about web design nor do I recall nicky writing a post about how to design wordpress themes. I do, however, recall Zac Johnson's blog being about making money online as a "super" affiliate AND I do recall zac writing a post about making affiliate landing page designs in the same week that he ripped off a newb's landing page.
These are two totally different things.
If anyone wrote a post about zac johnson ripping a wordpress design, no one would give a sh*t because it has nothing to do with his so-called expertise. But when people find out he's ripping affiliate landing pages, that's a different story.
Ok, it was just a coincidence that I wrote the linkbait forum marketing right after the Zac Johnson post and then this post right after the linkbait forum marketing post. I really do believe that editing a wordpress theme is enough to discredit someone and always had that as my intention.
