Tobidotman - just had a quick peek at your main site and it's really got to be said, it needs a bit more work. I'm sorry to say that, at the moment, it screams of 'teenager working out of his shed'. I'm not saying that this is the case, but that's what your site says to me. Just trying to be honest.
Keep in mind that your site gives out your first impression to your prospective clients, and I'm not quite sure that hotlinking to external images is necessarily putting out the right impression. The placement of the image in question, also needs a bit of work.
Just because a prospective client may need to outsource their web design to you, doesn't mean to say that they will be clueless to such things.
Your portfolio seems to only include three examples of logo design, and none for web design. Chat to some local businesses and do free websites for them. Charge them for hosting if you want, but do their site for free. Having a link to a portfolio, and having no work there, tends to make any 'buying' decision too high in risk for the prospective client.
Your installation and use of Joomla is very 'default', and tends to demonstrate that you are constrained by the use of the platform. Using a pre-existing template makes you seem more of a template hacker than a serious website designer. I would hope that your plan is not to just design a custom header for a templated Joomla installation for every web design client. If your skills are in any way restricted to graphic design, then you seriously need to team up with a coder to make your whole business work. Outsource.
Google ads - there's a time and place for them, and it isn't here. Go and have a look at some reputable web design companies, and you'll find that they don't need to run Google ads on their sites. Why? Because they're good at what they do and they don't need to. They have a steady stream of clients clammering for their services. You need to give this impression too.
Suppose the main thing is that you're actually doing something, which puts you far ahead of quite a handful of people.
