Who went to college.. and who dropped out?

Didn't get to go to college till I was nearly 30 and loved it. Went part time. Was going to be a ASL interpereter. I was single and after my 4th child was born I and stopped with a couple incompletes. Now, if I could, I'd take a class or two in areas that I have an interest in, but couldn't go and do the degree thing. I had three weeks of class room type training for this second job and it drove me nuts.

With some education you can make more money while you learn to make more money on the internet! Got to keep just hungry enough to keep you wanting more and pursuing that internet $$$ and not be satisfied with just a wage earning job.

haha, or more like 3% of drop outs are successful (especially high school). You don't hear about the rest because they are to busy making Big Macs.

Thank you for telling it like it really is. Come on people unless you:

1. Hate college with a passion
2. Have a plan to put a computer in every home with your software in it. (ie bill gates)

Then you should probably finish college.

lol, I guess we will add:

3. Really short attention span

I did a double major with Urban Planning and Sociology. I'm always a little surprised when I hear how much some people hated college. I totally understand hating high school. Most kids don't want to be there and just become distractions in the classroom and the teacher is an overpaid babysitter.

When I first moved out into the dorms it was really a refreshing experience. Meeting a ton of new people (especially hot chicks) that were intelligent and liked to party. I met some of my best friends at college and still hang out with them today more than 10yrs later.

Good luck in your new chapter of life, Dru! Like anything, the more you put into it the more you will get out of it. Join a college club, study groups, etc and take the initiative and meet new contacts. It will make your college experience that much better.

Thanks pocket.
The social aspect of college is tough one. It seems, so far, that I am ridiculously unique as far as lifestyle ambitions go. But I guess it is understandable, because most people in my age group probably have no firm idea of what they want to do with their life.

that's true. I went to a school that was full of hot chicks (70% female) but it was a pre-med school. plus there weren't any dorms, so everyone lived far from the school. no dorms = no crazy parties. people went to bars to chill, but I can do that without going to college.

You got to make college like it was in Back-To-School.

You can either do it when you are young and be like Rodney Dangerfield's son, or do it when your old and do the Triple Lindy like Rodney Dangerfield.

I dont know what the hell you're talking about but Rodney Dangerfield is the man.

I remember the time I was kidnapped and they sent a piece of my finger to my father. He said he wanted more proof.

I told my wife the truth. I told her I was seeing a psychiatrist. Then she told me the truth: that she was seeing a psychiatrist, two plumbers, and a bartender.

I went to a fight the other night, and a hockey game broke out.

Finishing college.I`m studying Electrical Engineering and I love it.I get to see lots of cool stuff, and how everything with electricity, from the wall socket to antennas, work.
I guess the hard stuff for some is finding something you are really interested in.I`ve seen a lot of friends go through college studying stuff they`re not even remotely interested in just to please their parents.

I have a college degree, although it took me longer to finish college because I was a working student back then.

I can relate to whole "doing what the parents think is right thing." I have wanted to run my own business projects long before I started college. Now that I am actually running a few... I know it's all I want to do. The way I see it, college is built only for getting a job over minimum wage. And all I want to do is work for myself so I often ask myself: "What the hell am I doing here?". But since I will be a dependent for a few more months at the most, my ass will be here in school. :disgust:

DruSam, do not waste your affirmaive action by dropping out of school ;-). j/k dude, stay in school though.

We will see. I have much bigger ideas than just doing arbitrage and niche sites for search engines. Which is easy stuff that I can do while I'm in college.

dropping out is not a descision i would make on the fly. I would have to review my circumstances and goals. Right now, it wouldn't be a good idea at all.
