Own a Smith & Wesson Special .38.. Got it off my wife's father. My wife and I both agree that every responsible adult should own a gun for safety, regardless of where they live...

To "RealMedia".. it's proven in cities that have higher rates of gun ownership, that less crime occurs. Why? Because there is a higher likeliness that *potential* criminals might get shot either breaking into someone's home or car.

It's a very simple concept, use your noggin'
 


Oh and no one can tell me that they wish they didn't own a weapon when they heard a loud noise in their house late at night.

You can learn all the ju-jitsu and have the biggest muscles you want, but in the end, if the other guy has a gun and is further than 5 feet from your ass, you'll lose.
 
Again, eliminate the source of actually being able to own one and the chances will fall considerably. Again look at UK stats.

Yeah, that is actually one of the main reasons I bought mine (when I saw Obama taking over the polls).

However, there is a pre-ban law. If you bought an AR-10 .308 today and they banned them tomorrow, you could always own your gun (legally).

Example- I think machine guns (full auto) were banned in the U.S. in 86 (I think 86). However, any machine gun manufactured before 86 is legal to buy (in most states) in the US today. Crazy law so if you are thinking of getting one, now is the time (prices are already up 40% and only rising).

In a country that was founded with one of the core principles of the right to own weapons, it would be impossible to remove that right without a civil war / all hell breaking loose. Same thing would happen (except worse) as it did with the governments attempt to ban alcohol.

Yes, the very reason that I am going to get my CCW within the next two weeks. The prices of guns and ammo have went through the flippin roof since Obama got elected. I used to have no problem finding ammo and now its hard as hell to find and I'm paying damn near double what I paid for it back in September.

Yeah, i've seen it to. Although I don't really stock up.

CCW is a different beast in itself. Even if you get your CCW you only receive a permit granted by the municipalities. It can be taken away if the applied laws pass, however, the assault rifles can't.

I really need to stock up on 7.5 swiss... it's already expensive and hard to find.

BTW I don't know what RealMedia is talking about... the only articles I have found about gun crime in UK have said it has drastically increased because of more gun control.

LOL, I know. I found the same stats.

Oh well, check out GB for the 7.5 swiss. Looked like the deals were pretty good P/R.
 
Yea I get the swiss surplus... it's about the best thing you can shoot through it anyway. I just know that someday it's going to be gone so I really need to stock up while I can. Or prepare to start loading my own ammo.
 
RealMedia... your argument doesn't really work. Forget guns for a minute... Let's talk about murder statistics only (per capita).

Right now the UK ranks #46 in the world for most murders.

By comparison, Spain ranks #48 in the world for most murders. Yet they rank #29 for murders by firearm...

So the UK is beating Spain in number of murders, even though more murders by firearm take place in Spain.

Get it? Good.
 
I'd actually like to get into archery, I need to research the laws more though.. I'd love to be able to shoot it in the woods behind my house, no one lives back there for miles, though I have a mess of neighbors to the left n' right of my house.

lol me too. I don't have a ton of cash to throw down on a gun but a Remington 700 sounds pretty reasonable for a sniper rifle
 
The issue is a cultural one and alot of Europeans don't understand that. If you live in Montana or Alaska, your guns may hold memories of sharing time with Grandpa, maybe even looking for dinner for your family, etc.
If you live in south central LA, it's a different story. Each group should try to understand how the other group feels. I think military style weapons should be next to impossible for the average crazy fuck to get. Hunting and sporting riffles are another thing....

Also, let's not forgot how the country was founded. We all need to be honest, the settlers needed to keep the Injuns in check (sp intentional) and the slaves in the fields. But that is in the past. No father should be denied the right from upholding the family hunting tradition. And no loose canon crazy ought to be able to buy a gun just like that. On a different level, Tazers rock. You can shock the shit out of someone if you have to and still not kill anyone....
 
My sifu always said, if you want to learn the science of close-quarters unarmed fighting, practice your drills. If you want self-defense, get a gun.

This was a guy who would regularly let top kungfu champions come in his kwoon to challenge him, beat their ass into the ground in nothing flat and then graciously offer to coach them. More than a few took him up, it was a pleasure to have their cross-discipline skills in our school, made us all better fighters.

I'm not stupid enough to post on a public forum if I have firearms or what kind etc. Might as well paint a bullseye on my back and hang a sign around my neck saying "Dear Homeland Security Fascist Goons, please kick my door in and confiscate my weapons!".

I have nothing. Go away.
