Topless coffee shop burns down; official says it was arson - CNN.com

In the end, a coffee shop in Vassalboro, Maine, that gained national attention for its topless waiters and waitresses simply proved too hot -- the Grand View Topless Coffee Shop burned to the ground early Wednesday morning.

A state fire official said it was arson.

The blaze consumed the risque, small-town business shortly after midnight, said Vassalboro Fire Chief Eric Rowe. He described the flames as "severe" and said the building was a "total loss."

"I really liked it here," waitress Krista Macentyre said after learning the cause of the fire. "We weren't hurting anyone. I don't know why someone would do something like this."

Insurance fraud. Obvious.

I doubt a business like that could survive. You don't sell alcohol, and the only people that would buy your coffee are probably offended by the titties.

No insurance. Place was popular with the Harley crowd out cruising.

Was way better than Starbucks where most of the crowd have never touched titties.

That's a pretty broad statement, dude.
I know we drink way more coffee down under, thanks to all the Italians and Greeks that basically built the cities into metropolises after WW2, and we are also a lot less prudish... but I'm of the opinion that every demographic grouping over the age of 10 drinks coffee.

That was just a shitty business location.
A place like that would already be a chain by now if it was build anywhere along the East coast here.

Does McDs, 7eleven, or DD have nude titties serving you. They have a different much better image and marketing strategy.
If you want to see titties go to the strip bar. Most people that have money have families and are probably taking their kids to school in the morning. Let see McDs or Nude Titties coffee.

I'll spell it out for you: McDs, 7eleven and DD have something much more important, a huge target market.

if you knew anything, you'd know that one of the largest segments of customers who buy coffee in the morning are blue collar workers/contractors/truck drivers...and not only that they buy fucking vats of cheap black coffee and bring it to the job...they don't go to starbucks or caribou...ever.

as you've never been up at 5am with a pickup full of workers going to a job site, you wouldn't understand why serving up titties and joe is a brilliant way to capture a target market from a billion dollar company who you will never ever be able to compete against.

of course a yuppie like you would put up a "wholesome" coffee shop and lose on price to McDonalds and service to Starbucks and end up on a corner with a coffee cup full of change.
