0.45c min bids? (or the CPM equivalent) That's fucking cheap.
Don't know if FatalError above was quoted something different, but they told me $0.80 CPM. At their stated CTR of 0.15%, that comes to
$0.53 CPC.

BTW, it's probably just a typo, but just in case: it's not 0.45c but $0.45 (or $0.53).

$400 min per campaign?
Keep in mind that each targeting counts as a separate campaign. Say you go after each possible combination of male and female, in US and Canada, age 25-30 and 30-35, that's already eight campaigns = $3,200 minimum.

a ghetto dating site appealing to the "free crowd" isn't on the top of my list with .45 min clicks.
Or .53. Good point. Someone who puts up with their horrendous UI because it's free, will probably not spring for high-paying CPA offers, which usually involve sales.

Read the articles about how little the guy works and how much he makes. ... This dude doesn't work all that much. He doesn't need to change his prices for anybody.
I've read those articles and I have mixed feelings. One one hand I admire him for building such a successful business with so little. Maybe I'm even envious. More power to him.

On the other side, I wonder why he has to brag about how much he makes and with how little work all over the media. It's not a public company, he's not required to publish any figures. Well, as a user you don't really need to care. But as a potential business partner, I can't deal with the "I don't give a shit" attitude. A 3-day response time to change requests because they're insisting to work only 1 hr a day, refuse to hire more people and are too lazy to build a self-service system? Don't think so.

At the same time, if he really doesn't care about improving his business further, why is he spending time and resources advertising all over the place:

and even here for affiliates?

With this attitude from those articles, he obviously doesn't need my affiliate dollars because he's already making bank with or without me. So I'll save my cash and everyone's cool.

For every person on my site that clicks through and registers there are 3 people that go to google search and register.

Interests by Demographic

Two things:

First, stuff like that could be valuable for advertisers. Why did your rep not point out such resources exist when I inquired about targeting? I always felt I have to literally pry any info from her.

Second, I just tried the interest tool:
Results for: "kitesurfing"
GENDER:
Male: 167.04% (446/267)
Wow, 167%! Didn't know my exotic extreme sport was THAT popular. And I have no idea what 446/267 means. Yeah, that's why I wrote "could be" above.

It's so funny... I met him in Miami at iDate and it was amazing to see every single person that came up to him had advice for him on how he should do it. Not one regular conversation, only non-gestault, one way conversations.

But if you read anything about him... He's happy. Makes over $10M a year. Just hired his first employee last year... And works like 4 hours a week. Oh, and he's had huge offers to be bought out.

Yet, everyone feels that he's "Doing it wrong."

Ha.
(trust me, I have my own things too that I'd love to tell him.)

Respect.
I couldn't give a flying fuck how much money he has, whether or not people tell him he's wrong, whatever.

His advertising system is shit for affiliates, which is the part of his business that impacts me.

So yeah, I'll tell him things that he should change to make me more money. If he does it great, if he doesn't, there's plenty of other places to advertise, but I'm not going to slobber all over his cock because he makes $10 mill a year.

Traffic quality sucks,
their targeting blows and is not accurate.
They under-deliver on impressions.
The girl who deals with advertising has an attitude problem and they aren't flexible on pricing.

Good luck guys.

The guy is a baller. Plain and simple.

Anyone that fuckin' banks 50k a day off adsense during these times is an envy of me. When the recession ends he is going to be shutting everyone down. Passive fuckin' income - that's how I made my money for the first couple years of business.

I have tried a couple of times to advertise with them and I was told they don't allow any sites that claim or are free in anyway or websites that I do not own my self. After that bull crap email I gave up.

From one of the articles posted earlier:

When Scoble wrote about the solo entrepreneur with the ugly website making millions of dollars a year, his readers were in disbelief. At the time, AdSense was seen as a tool for amateurs. It might cover your blogging expenses, but it wouldn't make you rich. Frind's website was also downright ugly. A search-engine-optimization blogger, Jeremy Schoemaker, wrote that Frind was a liar. "Give me a break, dudes," he wrote. "You look so stupid when you buy into his crap."

Surely that is on par with Billy G's "640k" quote...

True, so true. He's doing it right. Thats the whole point of affiliate marketing for me. Work less and earn more. Its all about the lifestyle. 4 Hour Work Week by Timothy Ferris FTW
