I like Obama. I mean, I don't love him. I couldn't love a politician anymore than I could love a used car salesman. I just think that this now creates an expectation in the minds of some about his foreign policy decisions and that it could weigh him down more than anything else.

But I've heard and watched the speech since I posted last and he says he doesn't feel he deserves it and also implied that he's not going to pussy out because of it. I take him at his word.

Anyway, you're right. No matter what he'd done the right wing media would hammer him for it, but that's what they get paid to do.

But seriously, if they gave the prize to Teddy Roosevelt they might as well give it to Obama. Teddy was probably as hawkish as Bush.

Irena Sendler - who recently died at 98 years of age, was a 2008 Nobel Peace Prize Nominee

During WWII, Irena was given permission to work in the Warsaw Ghetto, as a plumbing/sewer specialist. She had an ulterior motive.

Being German, Irena knew what the Nazi plan was for Jews.

Irena smuggled out infants in the bottom of a tool box she carried in the back of her truck. She used a burlap sack for bigger children.

She also had a dog in the back that she trained to bark when Nazi soldiers let her in and out of the ghetto. The soldiers wanted nothing to do with her dog. The barking covered noises of the infants and children.

Irena managed to smuggle out and save 2500 infants and children, before she was caught! The Nazi's broke both her legs and arms, and beat her severely.



Irena kept a record in a jar buried under a tree in her back yard of all the children she smuggled out.

After the war, she tried to locate all parents that may have survived to reunite families, but most had been gassed.

The children she could not reunite were placed with foster families or adopted.

Irena was nominated for the 2008 Nobel Peace Prize. She was not selected. Al Gore won for a slide show on Global Warming.

0nly a politician could stomach keeping that award for himself over a woman like Sendler. We need to stop giving high profile american politicians awards, you have to be so corrupt and/or useless to get up there.

I don't know whether I'm more pissed about Gore's or Obama's, both have done absolutely nothing except talk. A -far- cry from saving 2500 children from gas chambers at extremely high personal risk.
 
Alfred Nobel; the founder of the Nobel peace prize was also the inventor of dynamite & an arms dealer.
 
I must be blind to this situation where he deserves the Nobel Peace Prize. What the hell has he done except prove that he can't do what he says he can do before he got into office?
