Looking to redo my bathrooms eventually and I'm wondering if anyone has ever heard of these pre-built steamshower things? I mean they look great and awesome but I can't really find any reviews on them anywhere.

Steam Showers Inc. - Steam Shower, Steam Rooms, Bathroom Vanities And Whirlpool Bath Tubs

There are many brands and many websites selling them. I'm just afraid I'll order them and once they get there they end up being plastic pieces of Chinese garbage. I could see them getting broken or messed up easily, etc.

I'm asking here cause many of you make some $$ and might be familiar with steamshowers or high-end tubs/jacuzzi/etc.

I'd worry about them leaking more than anything. Your best bet is going with a trusted dealer like bedandfoam or wasauna although it might cost you a bit more. Don't have any personal experience, sorry, although you did get me interested so I'll be watching this thread

I just redid my guest bathroom and did some research into steam showers. I had a steam shower in my old place as well. I think it is easier to just do a standard shower and get a door rated for steam and then have a steam unit. The only difference I think between having a steam shower and a regular shower would be the tiling. Obviously for a steam shower the tile has to be floor to ceiling, and there needs to be a slight slope in the ceiling tile to let the steam run off and not drip onto your face. Aesthetically I like the way tiling versus pre-built looks.

Mr. Steam makes a nice steamshower unit and they are reasonably priced. They also come with aromatherapy options, etc. Ventilation isn't an issue since like I thought it might be since once you turn on your shower all the steam condenses. The only reason I didn't install a steam unit in my guest bathroom was because my ceilings are quite high and I'd either have to drop the ceiling at the shower, or get a ridiculously high door or some other alternative. Plus the shower itself is a little small for a stool. I'll use this opportunity for a bathroom brag since I just finished this project and I am very excited with the outcome. This picture is just before they installed the 7' frameless shower door. Get a rain shower, they are great. I was a little hesitant because of the price, but it turned out to be worth it.

P.S. You should also look at Kohler - they have a range of pre-fab steam shower doors as well as steam generation units. If you really want to be a baller you should get the Kohler DTV system, which is basically an electronic theromostatic valve with steam control, shower control, and even media/audio control. I was too cheap to get it myself though.

clockwork, nice shower :)
I'm definitely looking for something that i can just sit back and relax in though. Sitting being important.
The nice thing about the pre-builts is that the higher end models have jacuzzi tubs, chairs, and multiple showerheads built right in there too. I need some jacuzzi action, but at the moment don't have the room for something as sweet as sticks posted. One day though.
A huge indoor pool/shower/hottub/jacuzzi room is one of those things I've always wanted. With a few giant TVs in there, etc. You pretty much have to have a room built ground up for that though with all the humidity problems.
