SixthSense Augmented Reality Device Goes Open Source | Singularity Hub

"Mistry announced that he would be making SixthSense available through an open source license. That’s right, you’ll be able to build your own device and upload the software for free."

"Patched together from off the shelf components, Mistry has stated that the SixthSense system will likely cost less than $350. To facilitate the proposed open source licensing of the device, Mistry will provide instructions in how to assemble the hardware as well as provide the free software to run the components in tandem."

Just imagine, you'll be able to check your stats on a public bathroom wall.

This tech is fucking sweet! (don't want to have to wear a bulky projector though...)

and... Go TED!!

Astounding stuff, there could be a shitfuck of money made off the back of this open source stuff, imagine the possibilities... Deaf people speaking naturally seems like an excellent plan.

I think glasses that projected a HUD type image would be a better application. Only a matter of time.

Hellz yeah, but I don't want to have to wear glasses either.... :(

Plus, this is great for the office environment, but terrible outside when there aren't any surfaces and the sun is
out.

The ultimate solution is contact lenses where it could just appear as though things are being projected.

Oh and btw Singularity Hub is sweet!
