Do you really think I'm that serious? Are you defending the OP or not? How can someone be as close minded as to make such broad statements about a sport that is enjoyed by 95% of the world's population and misunderstood by a small percentage of the remaining 5% of lovers of American Football and oval track car racing? I expect more from supposed intelligent people.
I have no personal vendettas. The United States is one of the greatest countries on this planet and some of my best friends and business associates are Americans. My family had a weekend home for more than 10 years in Washington state and I spent most of my adolescence hanging out with kids in Bellingham, WA every weekend.
It's just terribly disappointing to read such ignorant bullshit when we are talking about qualifications for the biggest sporting event on this planet.
Being Canadian I'm a hockey fan at heart. I know it's just a sport and there are far more important things in this world, but having been here in Spain for 5 years and having experienced football in its native environment I can honestly say that no other sport comes close to the same level of passion that football does. It's practically a religion but it's even bigger than Christianity or Islam.
It bridges the divide between races and cultures. Yes it can be ridiculously stupid sometimes, with the fighting between fans and the diving and the bullshit that comes with it. It can also be terribly exciting, and until you've actually experienced it first hand you just have no idea what it's about.
That's it really. No hard feelings. This thread is just stupid.

Nobody has a monopoly on any sport. Anybody can play football, as with soccer. There is one common theme here, soccer lovers in no way ever defend the sport in any way that shows it's a sport. Nope.
Instead they just pop off from the mouth about how ignorant Americans are, or how we can't find things on a map (not a dick roll just needed to make the video not embed). I'm pretty sure I don't need to know where our military is creating the next parking lot overseas.
Frankly I don't have the time, or the ability to care enough to go and find stats about your country and why it sucks so bad. Seriously, I have better things to do, like rip on soccer.
Soccer lovers also love to try and poke fun at some fact that, yes large people do play football. Being immature they grab a picture of some total fat ass playing on a middle school team. Although funny to look at, but when you look at the professional level you see these guys are 350lbs of pure muscle with the job of wrestling with another guy every down and ripping the QB's head off. I'm sure I could find a picture of some fat kids playing soccer and provoke you with it also.
Another common misconception is that those who hate Soccer (like me) have never played Soccer. It's true that I've never played competitively on any level (why would I - I hate it) but your bound to play it in school at some level. What's easier for a Phy Ed teacher to do than say "Hey kids go kick this round thing around in that field."
I think it comes down to the fact, you just can't defend the game. So I think we can all agree that the game just sucks and be done with it.
