Respected all Members,
I was wondering what video editing software you would recommend for editing game footage etc.?

I want it to be quite cheap and have all the functions that are required to some audio editing, clip transitions etc like the ones you would generally find on YouTube.

Windows and Premiere Pro for me.

But you might want to try Windows Movie Maker if you are on a tight budget. Its from Microsoft and free. Quite simple and short learning curve. The Vista and Windows 7 versions are supposed to be real good. The major drawback is mixing audio and video and making the transition match. If the transitions are not that tight WMM might work.

The pro's use Avid Express, it's fast but a big learning curve, lots of short cut keys to remember. I'd suggest Final Cut or Premiere if it's just a few videos your doing and not a life changing career.

Being that video production has been my livliehood most of my life, I figured this is a good post to break my months of silent lurking on WF. Anyways, while yes, Final Cut Pro is ideal if you are serious about video production, it has a rather step learning curve and a high price tag (and the obvious Mac requirement).

If you're on PC and just want an easy to use, cheap, effective program - I would recommend checking out Sony Vegas ($99.00). Adobe Premier has a steeper learning curve similar to Final Cut but suffers from far more stability issues in my experience.

Also, you mentioned you are aiming to edit game footage - you will probably need some sort of screen recording software if you don't have that already. I'd recommend Camtasia for that.

Hope that helps!
