Iran shits the bed again

Not to mention today is supposed to be the day Iran lands a 'punch' or a 'blow' against the Western powers. Google "February 11 threat" if you're interested.

As an Iranian this is really important to me, I hope we can finally take our country back.

some are speculating it's the launch of a new electric car as of pretty much 12am today Iran unveils electric Samand car.

Blow to the oil cartels perhaps? Nothing special and quite ugly really...but at least it doesn't need oil.

Nothing special?

The electric model of the Samand can run at a speed of 140 kph and can be recharged within 15 minutes.

Don't quote me on this but I also read it goes 200KM without recharging.

That's fucking special if you ask me.

When a country is governed by fanatics; rules of MADD are not exactly reliable. But the alternative is a first strike of some kind. Personally I think Israel will attack their nuclear facilities with conventional weapons before they get the bomb. I don't think there is really an alternative unless there is regime change in Iran.

20% Is enough to make a crude fissionable weapon , it's just gonna be a really low powered nuke.

Having said this though, from what I can tell , the step from 20% to 90% is significantly less than from unenriched to 3% , or 3% to 20%.

That is not an alternative, and anyone who thinks it is really is a fool.

Glad you are smarter than Israeli and Pentagon planners. You realize the Israelis hit the Iraqis when they were developing nuclear weapons, right?
Unless you read "first strike" to mean nuclear first strike; which was not my intention.

There's a good argument that it would be much more foolish to sit tight while Iran develops ICBMs pointed at YOU.

Personally I'm hoping for regime change.

I didn't rule it out, but it's good to know you didn't mean that.

Nearly every country of any significance has ICBMs pointed at them constantly.
Personally I'm hoping for regime change.
I am as well, but it can't come from the outside. They(the Iranian Government) thrives when their problems can be put on 'imperialist' Americans and Israelis.
The country is destabilized right now. So why in god's name would you want to give them a common enemy to unite against? Especially the one that helped cause the formation of this government in the first place?
Their government will just gain support, especially when the civilian casualties start coming in. And they'll still have the same workers and suppliers to just build it again.

It would also stall out any hope whatsoever of fixing things in the middle east. The rest of the countries in the region(and many out) would be at the United States and Israel's throat for a long, long time.

I hope for a change in regime, but it would be really foolish to believe that it's going to come militarily.

stratfor:

Though Tehran has proven incapable of extinguishing the Green movement, today’s events demonstrated once again that the Iranian security apparatus can keep a lid on the opposition.

Tehran had ample time to prepare for the Feb. 11 demonstrations. It used a blend of hard- and soft-power tactics to limit the number of protesters. After expediting the executions of two anti-government activists earlier the week of Feb. 7, the government released senior aides of opposition leaders Mir Hossein Mousavi and Mehdi Karroubi from detention. Many people debating whether to participate in the demonstrations or to allow their children to take to the streets Feb. 11 apparently took the threat of arrest and execution seriously. Conversely, pro-government protesters received incentives to protest and reportedly were instructed to bring at least two to three demonstrators with them in a bid to overwhelm the Green movement demonstrations.

By lowering the number of opposition protesters, emasculating Iran’s opposition leaders and flooding the main protest areas with pro-government demonstrators, Iranian police and Basij forces generally succeeded in reducing the Green movement to a manageable level. Information control measures, including the blocking of Gmail and the creation of a new (and heavily monitored) national e-mail service, also will facilitate Tehran’s ability to monitor the opposition.

No regime change from within is coming. Sanctions won't do shit.

Iran is years away from being able to strike Israel with nukes and even if they were able to, its extremely unlikely they would. They act crazy and unbalanced and rave on about Israel, but thats mostly smoke and mirrors - create an air of unpredictability, plus give the Iranian public something to rally behind. They are far more concerned on maintaining control domestically and neutralizaing any credible thread from Iraw, which effectively means keeping the Sunnis out of power, since thats their historic enemy.

Having said all that, Israel won't take the chance on 'extremely unlikely' and won't wait around for years. They WILL strike first, short of something unexpected happening and changing the Iranians' course. A conventional strike again won't do shit against Iranian nuclear capabilities, it'll just give the Iranians internationals support and internal cohesion, gaining nothing for the Israelis. The Israeli airforce is too small, Iran is too far, there is no Israeli navy to speak off and no way to get troops on the ground to finish the job properly. And the Iranian nuclear facilities are too well fortified, too deep underground, too numerous, too close to population centers. Thats without the Russians giving them their best air defence systems, as they keep threatening to do if NATO don't fuck off from their doorstep.
Therefore its entirely likely the Israelis will resort to tactical nuclear weapons for their strike. This will destabilize the whole region, potentially bringing down one or of the governments of Israeli's neighbours, bringing a more hostile regime (Sunnis in Syria, Palestinians in Jordan and worst case scenario - Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt). Hezbollah would go nuts and Iraq would blow up to kingdom come. The straight of Hormuz would become a mine field, causing oil prices to go completely ballistic. Terrorist attacks would poor jet fuel on this inferno.

Good luck bros!
