Posted some shit on craigslist and here's what one of the "potential workers" writes:

"
Hello My name is Wang. My ethnic is Hmong. We are a tribal people located in the mountains of Laos. Our people is secretly known for helping the American CIA during the Vietnam war. For this reason most of the Hmong had to migrate to the US after the communist took over. Anyway to the point, our people are well connected with ghosts, demons, and spirits. Many are shamans and wizards or healers with spells. We believe in charms and the spirits of nature like certain mountains, rivers, and valleys are controlled or have a spirit, very much like the native Indians. Some scary stuff that we believe are shadow people. While you are asleep, a dark evil force that you cant see clearly but you are aware that it is in a human form comes and peralizes your body, breathing is hard and screaming is impossible. In this state, the victim feels like he is awake and aware of its surrounding like people sleeping next to him or sitting around him while watching tv etc. Most people wake up hearing themselves screaming, sweating, and in fear. I myself have had such visits before.
Ghosts and spirits are very familiar to the Hmong people. Our way of life in the third world were very archaic. The dead is usually buried whole, like all the organs are still in them and they are always dressed in a certain way. Most of them were probably buried less than 5’ deep. I believe because the body is always buried whole and the lack of electricity and lights help bring the trouble spirits back to life. There are many stories of ghosts taking people’s spirits which causes them to die shortly. Ghosts are in a form of midgets whith long hair almost down to their feet. Humans can see them if the ghosts wants them to. However, most children who has not lost their baby teeth can see them whenever they are around. When a baby is crying all day or all night for no reason, it is because a ghost or evil spirit is bothering it. Dogs and most any could see them or sense their existence. When someone is going to die or in the middle of the night, you hear dogs barking like crazy into the dark and there is no one or animals there then that is the ghosts trying to visit.
These are just some short ideas of what is out there from our crazy culture and believes. If it sounds like anything you are interested in, please call me at 918-353-2510 or email me back. I will go into more detail if anything interests you. There are so many scarry stories that our elders have that will scare you out of your pants. Oh, my mom who has passed away was a very good shaman. My dad can tell you anything you want to know about the Hmong shaman.

Thanks.

Wang"

Seems legit. No sarcasm. From what I know about the Hmong this guy seems legit. And yes his story about the CIA is correct.

I know it becomes a bit nuts half way through his reply but at the beginning he is referring to this, just their interpretation of it I guess:

Sleep paralysis - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"Physiologically, sleep paralysis is closely related to the paralysis that occurs as a natural part of REM (rapid eye movement) sleep, which is known as REM atonia. Sleep paralysis occurs when the brain awakes from a REM state, but the body paralysis persists. This leaves the person fully conscious, but unable to move. The paralysis can last from several seconds to several minutes "after which the individual may experience panic symptoms and the realization that the distorted perceptions were false".[5] As the correlation with REM sleep suggests, the paralysis is not entirely complete; use of EOG traces shows that eye movement can be instigated during such episodes.[6] When there is an absence of narcolepsy, sleep paralysis is referred to as isolated sleep paralysis (ISP).[7]

In addition, the paralysis state may be accompanied by terrifying hallucinations (hypnopompic or hypnagogic) and an acute sense of danger.[8] Sleep paralysis is particularly frightening to the individual because of the vividness of such hallucinations.[7] The hallucinatory element to sleep paralysis makes it even more likely that someone will interpret the experience as a dream, since completely fanciful, or dream-like, objects (often described as looking distinctly demonic by those who experience the paralysis)[citation needed] may appear in the room alongside one's normal vision. Some scientists have proposed this condition as an explanation for alien abductions and ghostly encounters.[9] A study by Susan Blackmore and Marcus Cox (the Blackmore-Cox study) of the University of the West of England supports the suggestion that reports of alien abductions are related to sleep paralysis rather than to temporal lobe lability.[10]"

I've had this happen to me once and it's terrifying as fuck. You're FULLY awake but you CANNOT move no matter how hard you try and the harder you try the harder and more terrifying it gets. It's like wtf, I'm awake but I can't move -> panic. I didn't have any hallucinations but when you're in that situation it really feels like there is some kind of evil force pushing down on you so you can not move. I guess that's the way the brain interprets the situation since it makes absolutely no sense as to why you are unable to move your limbs at the time or yell or scream, etc..

Now, I'm curious as to what you posted exactly, was it in relation to something along the same lines or something completely different. If you posted that you needed help with ridding your home of evil spirits then what kind of reply did you expect?

Now if you posted about hiring a plumber then yeah...whack job.

This happened to me a bunch of times ~6 months ago. Usually I was having a lucid dream beforehand so I'm still not 100% sure if I was dreaming or not.

Yeah I guess if hallucinations are involved it may be hard to tell (that's what wiki says). In my case there wasn't any so as soon as I snapped out of it and was able to move I realized it was real. Not fun.

Edit: I know you said lucid dreaming not hallucinating but pretty similar since in both situations it would seem real at the time.

I am also curious as to what you posted looking to hire someone that would respond like that. It clearly wasn't "I need someone to paint my house", perhaps you wanted to start a ghost hunting team?

Yeah, I've had that happen once. Was not a pleasant experience. I was fully awake, knew I was not dreaming, but felt like I had something just pushing down on me. Only lasted about 30-40 seconds but when you are completely paralysed that's pretty fucking terrifying.

The problem is that since when I lucid dream I almost always dream that I wake up. So it's hard for me to tell if I dreamt I woke up and couldn't move or if I actually did wake up and couldn't move.

Wikipedia makes it seem like what I was experiencing was sleep paralysis, so that's probably what it was. I have no clue what caused it, but I was getting them relatively frequently for about a month, and it sucked a lot.

From what I know, lucid dreaming can lead to sleep paralysis.

My mom used to get it a lot, sounded pretty scary. Although, I know some people enjoy it
