Healthcare bill increases self employment tax, adds new 3.8% tax to new gains

Right.. so tax increases but yet you no longer have to pay for seperate health insurance cover. Is that concept really so hard to understand?

God, I hate Obama/Pelosi/Reid and I hope this shit crashes and burns.

Either way, it's a win-win for the GOP.

Lib's pass this shitbill with 55-60% of the country vehemently against it, there will be a mass exodus of Liberals out of DC come November.

They don't pass the bill, Obama is finally recognized as a total failure within his own party, making him one of the most laughable Presidents in American history. Oh, and here's some irony for you Liberals wishing we were more like Europe: If we were in Europe, Obama would likely be called for a "vote of no confidence" if what he worked on for 1 solid year failed, and he would be recalled/voted out of office early. How laughable.

No, you are absolutely wrong on this point. From my understanding, once you make above XX amount per year, you STILL have to pay for your own health insurance, in fact it creates a new tax on insurance premium rates to HELP pay for the lower income bracket health care...

You only get the free health care if you make below XX per year.

Sorry I don't have the exact numbers right this second, but you are 100% wrong if you think its "free health care for everyone".

My mistake. I thought the whole healthcare debate going on in the US was about providing universal coverage to everyone? Why are most Americans on wickedfire so adamantly opposed to helping your fellow countrymen in their time of need? And on yet another point, why do you think that private companies would be screwing you any less than a government run healthcare system? Hell, I sure know I wouldn't want a company that is set up to profit choosing the "right" (read: cheapest) healthcare for me.

I just know I'll get some green rep for this!

You must, by LAW, buy insurance under this bill. What if you don't? Then you have to pay a 2% fine to the IRS on your annual income. So you buy insurance, or you pay a fine on your income. Taxes go up AND you pay more for premiums.

I haven't followed up much on this shit, but if this is true, I'm even more against it.

Think of Medicaid, but with more relaxed restriction on who gets it. Basically for someone in my current situation the bill is good, but as I get back on my feet more I'll start to feel the burn as I hit that mid-section.

I think the people that get screwed the most will be the ones teetering in the middle, because they'll be forced to pay for health insurance, but if they could already afford it then they wouldn't be worrying bout being forced to buy it, but then making just enough not to get covered.

*Shrug*, I know the healthcare down in Hawaii been working for them for over 25 years, but doesn't seem like this bill is gona be anywhere close to that structure despite what the bill supporters say. ... whichever way it goes, a good chunk of the population is gona get burned, the question is, which chunk.

Ron Paul 2012
Ryan Moran is that you? hahaha

This tax increase shit is yet another reason to leave this country and start fresh somewhere else.

But it's not just the tax shit. Even if Health insurance was free for everyone things still would suck ass. The way things are set up here in the U.S. are to benefit the doctors and health insurance companies not the patient. If someone gets sick they should get the help they need to get better simple as that. Doctors, Insurance companies, and Washington lobbyists should not be trying to figure out a way to get rich off of people who are hurt or sick.

Last I heard, they found 19 different tax increases in this bill. I also envision future 'funding crisis'' down the road, leading to more tax increases, fees, or cut benefits. It always happens.

Seriously?

...Why hasn't anyone royally flamed you for saying that. Fuck.

I doubt more than 20% of Americans pay enough attention to really be "vehemently" for or against most bills.

Asked if their representative were to vote with Republicans to ditch the current health care overhaul bill, 31% said they would be more likely to vote for him or her in November while 34% said they’d be less likely and 34% said it wouldn’t matter. The poll, which comes out later today, also asked voters how they would feel if their representative voted with Democrats to pass the bill, and 28% said they’d be more likely to vote for him or her. On the other hand, 36% said they’d be less likely, and 34% said there would be no difference.

Plus this part makes absolutely no fucking sense, assuming controlling costs is a consideration at all. Mandating some people buy something whether they want it or not, while also prohibiting buying/selling to certain people who want to buy/sell it and have willing trading partners:

"Undocumented workers would be barred from purchasing insurance -- even with their own money -- from private companies which operate within exchanges set up by reform."
