Looks like America WILL have National Health Care after tonight

I'm just saying neither countries are completely free, and for good reason.

OK, Agreed

It's easy to knock America, but really things aren't that different just they are at a different stage to us. The British Empire ended a century ago, America's reign at the top is just finishing.

Agreed (with a heavy heart)

There Turbo... you happy now?

For people against national health care, what are your arguments against the fact that your current private health care is outranked by both cost and effectiveness by most European national health services?

One thing is that many don't realize that the "land of the free" already forces them to spend more money on health care than the other countries.

USA per person = $7500 = $3400 government, $3600 private

Canada = $4000 = $2800 government, $1200 private

Japan = $2500 = $2000+ government

(not exact numbers :p)

Hey. Anyone remember that 1 thread that we all agreed on something? I was thinking about that the other day but couldn't remember the topic. Really, Popeye and I agreed on something. And, this may be a stretch, but possibly, hellblazer was in there too.

Did it have to do with boobies?

Come on man, you can't win these people over by making sense. You gotta rave like a baptist preacher..

Blue Laws? How many years ago was that?
Been to Vegas ever?

TOTAL FUCKING FAIL

You've obviously never been to South Carolina.

1. Can't open a store on Sunday before 1:30 PM unless it sells food or prescriptions. (Walmart has to rope off half of the store. Cross the line, the cops get called)

2. Alcohol cannot be sold on Sundays (sales stop Sat. night @ 11:59, meaning all bars must close at midnight. Saturday night LAST CALL is 11:30. Only private clubs are exempt)

3. New proposed law to close liquor stores on Christmas and Thanksgiving.

Same in Houston. In Texas it's by county. We're actually lucky as in many counties they're dry all together ( which, being from the Dallas area, LOZ, you should be familiar with)

Yeah my dad was saying in Dallas, one side of the street is normal bars, the other will be "private memberships only" due to some weird laws.

You forgot to mention the worst part... if you order a drink at a bar in South Carolina the bartenders have to use mini bottles. This jacked the average drink price in Charleston (at least when I was at the Citadel back in 99-03) to mid-town Manhattan rates.

PA is not much better. You have to buy beer by the case from a state store or, in some odd cases (payoffs, maybe?) you buy it behind a counter/ screen at a dive store or from the bar itself (at a much higher price than a 6 pack anywhere else). Liquor and wine are only bought from a state liquor store, which, on average- is $3-5 more per bottle than just buying it across the river in New Jersey. Not to mention they have better selection.

Wait- what were we talking about again? How did we go from health care reform to alcohol?

This idea of a human right to health care is ridiculous. Why stop there, why not a human right to housing? Sounds good right? Everyone should have a roof over their heads. It should also be a human right to eat, everyone's gotta eat. While we're at it, everyone needs to get around, it's our human right to transportation. Free Toyota Prius for everyone.

I'm Canadian and I hate the idea of government health care. Medical bills should be paid as needed. You go to the hospital, you pay your bill, just like everything else. Insurance companies bank billions of dollars just to give people a little sense of security. Fuck insurance, if you fall on hard times, thats what your family should be there for. Yea I know the story of grandma who had to pay $100k for treatment of xyz, but guess what will happen to those costs with no insurance companies hiking up prices. This new plan is just a power and cash grab.

It was on Ron Paul. I don't know which thread it was but it was freaky. Not one person was in disagreement, lol. Ron Paul brought WF together :)

That's because some people think it's 'cool' to like RP because he's an ideological renegade or something. If you asked him, he'd say this 'healthcare' law is a joke. And yet you have supposed RP supporters in here making points for it. They haven't thought their logic through to the end. It would be literally impossible for people who agree on RP to disagree on this law. His entire platform is less government, less expenses, constitutional limits, slashing spending, and cutting taxes - in short, everything this bill is against.

I withdraw my statement about the possibility that hellblazer was agreeable on whatever thread that was. It's just not conceivable.

On no, a bunch of people that didn't vote are mad about things elected officials are doing... lol
