Anyone here in/ever in a frat?



Never underestimate the desire of sheep to be accepted by their peers. That is what drives 95+% of all of our actions every fucking day.
 
You Americans have some weird traditions. Even more so when we only hear about the extreme, fucked up and torturous "hazing" methods. I certainly don't think it's the friendliest way to greet newcomers.

Whoa now. This is fraternities, certainly not the norm here. Not all frats haze, either
 
there was some hazing in my fraternity but no piss or scat. thats just gross.

i was in a fraternity in college. it was a lot of fun...made some good connections with alumni. did quite a bit of philanthropy for the community around my school, lots of parties/girls and met a lot of people.

i could've done it all without a fraternity but why pass up the perks and connections? connections with alumni with my fraternity helped me to get a job in investment banking back when i graduated from college.
 
Never in a frat, though I used to go to frat parties to steal their beer and mack on their ladies. 90% of them were complete schlubs who just wanted to "belong to something".

A few of the frat parties I went to in Madison were completely off the hook, though. At one of them they slipped ecstasy in the mixed drinks, people were freaking out, stripping naked and later puking everywhere. Generally a good time. Oh, and I went in the coat room and pissed all over the coats, Dane Cook style. Those were the days...

That shit is just fucking stupid. It's like just one or two frats that do retarded shit like that, and then everyone thinks frats are all the same. Whatever, I don't feel like arguing about it over an internet forum. Just keep in mind it only takes one bad apple to make people look past all the good things.
 
I was in a frat first year of college, a lot of the guys were douche bags but I did make some friends. Got invites to parties, met chicks, it wasn't so bad.

The thing you need to know is that hazing is illegal in most states if not nation wide. If an authority was informed about ANY hazing being done by a frat they were to be fined and instantly suspended for investigation. If the school found out that this was a regular occurrence the frat would be disbanded and never allowed on campus again. Least this is what we were told when I was in it. It was also at a state school so things may be different at private schools.
 
My freshman year in college we had to attend an "initiation" ceremony for all the freshman football players. We were stripped down to our jocks, covered in pig shit, had piss and other terrible liquids poured on us. We then ran through an obstacle course with the upper classmen football players beating us with brooms and such. At the end of the course we had to break eggs in our jocks and announce ourselves to the hundreds of sorority girls that were attending the "initiation".

goddamn...I miss college
 
Instead of talking shit about fraternities, I went and rushed to figure out what it's all about. I'm having a fucking blast. Only downside is that it can get pretty expensive, but so far I don't regret it.

Fraternities are an awesome way to meet people and have a great time in college. What frat are your pledging?


As to the hazing... I'm in a fraternity that hazes hard. From an outsiders perspective, it looks like sadistic abuse without a purpose.

After going through it myself, I can tell you that it has had a very positive impact on my life. It strips away the innocence of the world and truly makes you appreciate many things you previously took for granted. It's a very humbling experience and after going through it, any task/problem is an easy issue to tackle in comparison.

And it keeps pussies out of your frat.

i'm at a big college now and theres a lot of greek life ... i considered joinin a frat and pledged for 2 weeks ... i think its probably great if ur in the frat b/c you have a bunch of ppl on your side of things no matter what ...

but i didnt do it .. i sum up a frat kid as "an insecure pussy that thinks hes the shit, and never gunna grow"
