i'm not that much of a football fan and i don't give a fuck if the states give a fuck about football but looking at google trends tells me at least some guys must be following.

Yeah but there's a difference when that happens, it's just pure band-wagoning at that point. It's not that we like soccer anymore than we did the day before, but the thought of sticking it to the rest of the world like, "Hey we came in here and carved you up at your own game, suck it" is really the turn on.

Very similar to the hockey frenzy that happened at the Olympics. At least hockey is a real sport, so I can at least respect that.

Look Football is the biggest sport in the world and the world cup the largest sporting competition in the world. No amount of narrow minded bitterness will change that. Or my level of puzzlement at the bitterness. Or Rage9's level of education.

Hate to break it to ya, but people bandwagoning means it's getting more popular. Look at the Yankees, Lakers, Red Sox, etc. Those teams are incredibly popular, thus a ton of bandwagoners. People only bandwagon something when it's popular. You just proved your own point wrong.
