Real retarded troubles, the US soccer team, that no one gives a fuck about.

Congrats rest of world, you once again bored the USA.

No worries... Why don't you drop the world cup and go back to watching the world series. Amazing how you guys win that every single year. Go team USA...

Nobody cares about it yet the game yesterday made the cover of the NY Post and most other major newspapers, and everyone I know is talking about it. This round of games usually sucks because everyone goes into turtle mode (max defense) since nobody wants to lose. Things will pick up in the next few rounds. Also, most of the shitty teams will start getting weeded out.

If you can't appreciate the US team trolling the world by beating other countries in their #1 sport, I don't know what to tell you. The fact that other countries see soccer as a religion, and it's probably our #5 or 6 sport, yet we can still come in and play with the best, is awesome to me.

The games are slow right now, but when the best play the best, you can really appreciate the talent and strategy of the game. I used to feel the same way until I got into watching EPL, compared to shit like MLS you can really tell the difference.

TL;DR: sit back, drink a beer, grill some burgers, stfu and watch the games.

Also, James Clarke please stop quoting your retarded posts (the 5 year old images from 4chan aren't helping)

Holy fuck. You lose this argument every time you start it. I would have thought you would have learned by now but I guess you're just too fucking stupid.

Why are you even hearing about it if no one gives a shit? Go lock yourself in your bedroom and don't come out til it's over if it bothers you so much. Your mom can slide your food under the door.

US viewer-ship of 2006 World Cup games was about 100 million, putting the US in 8th place globally. They expect the numbers to be much higher this time around. The US has some 40,000 supporters who've travelled to South Africa to see the games live, 2nd highest number of supporters present after the host country.

Yeah, no one in the US gives a shit about the World Cup

Most people in the U.S. are watching the world cup for the same reason that they watch the gymnastic finals at the Olympics. It's hyped up because an American might win and it gets to be that weeks water cooler talking point. Then the event happens, we win or lose, and 24 hours later everyone goes back to not giving a shit and won't watch it again for another four years.

Seriously, soccer is not that big of a deal here. I went to a high school with 3,000 people... we had some a million different "sports" (tennis team, chess team, track, baseball, football, basketball, etc...) but we didn't have a soccer team. However, I did hear they started one a few years after I was gone.

I think the same can be said for just about every sporting event. Who really gives a shit once it's over?

However, I did hear they started one a few years after I was gone.

Might that indicate the sport's popularity is growing?

I don't have the energy to argue about this shit. I'm gonna go watch the Canadian F1 instead and wait for the German-Australian game to come on.

I was going to argue, write a nice long post explaining why it's the greatest game in the world. Then, I thought the exact same thing. So I am now watching the Grand Prix and waiting for the German game to come on.

The difference is we will watch the one game. One game in four years.

Could be. I just asked my brother and he said my old school still has a soccer team, but they only play a few games a year, due to the lack of other schools with teams. And I graduated in 1997.
