The 10 Day Challenge: Starting at $0...

But if you have the nerve and the heart, cold calling will put food on your table in a hurry.

I hated cold calling as much as the other guy, but the reality is when business is slow it is the most effective way to drive people in the door.

Then combine it with effective marketing techniques, both online and in real life, and quality service you can turn your fortunes around in a hurry.

SoupyOne, thanks for starting this thread. You are giving some great advice.

I've had an SEO client for 2 years that I talked to ONCE when I cold called him. He NEVER asks questions and I bill him monthly. :rasta:

This is a great thread, I can tell you worked in a hardcore telemarketing environment.

Only guys that were managed by ex stockbrokers say stuff like "one call close" and they use the term "rebuttals"

I could imagine getting my J.T. Marlin on, saying stuff to business owners. Like "You can't afford not to redesign your site Mr. Jones" You're competitors are doing so much better than you. Business people hate to hear shit liek that.

Or give them examples like

" My last client Tom's bait tackle, I took his site from 10 hits a month to over 1000, his results were staggering he went from 0 revenue to 6,000 a month . If I perform half as well on your project as I do for my other clients. I know you're going to be impressed and we're going to do larger business.

Or you can say

$250, if you waste 250 and I build you a horrible site that doesn't get traffic, are you going to be on the corner with a can in your hand begging for change? Of course not Mr. Jones. If the site takes off are you going to buy a yacht and name it after me? Prospect will laugh they always do.
Then you say it's not about the $250 it's about the relationship we establish, when you see that I'm real and I know how to expand you're business. Believe me, We're going to do a lot larger business than $250.

it's all about selling yourself and the relationship with the client.

Keep this threading going. Guys if you're doing this get your hands on the straight line system videos by Jordan Belfort.

I've been REAL busy setting up the insurance offer, but I did have time this week to work on closing one deal (consulting) and that's for a percentage of their monthly spend + $2,025 in first month's fees > $825 of it up front... (It took four days to get the deal.)

Anywho, challenge was met. If I do make a course on it, some of you guys better sign up or I'ma be raping everybody.

EDIT: I don't plan on updating any money I make today (and honestly, I'm going to be racing on Pinks All Out today so I probably won't make too much from the B2B stuff), but I'm at $2,075 in cash from it (not including pending fees).

So the moral of the story is... If you're a newbie and you need money to start your IM career > Get on the damn phone and whore yourself out.

P.S. If you're in South Florida, hit me up so I can show you how to make some REAL money. That $250 website thing was just something I threw together for one call / two call closes.

OMG...this thread is epic!

Really shows the tip of what's possible when one is willing to get off his/her ass (and
experience a little discomfort) and take action.

Thanks!

i am on the receiving end of cold calls all day long at my ft job and if anyone called me talking like this i would think they were a condescending arrogant prick.

real business is done by earning someones trust, not berating their methods.

if i am in the market for seo services, or even if i am not, and your cold call sparked my interest, i would hang up and do my own research. you may or may not be the right partner to work with. i never make decisions on the fly.

with that being said, maybe those tactics work on some, or even most people. i dont know. ive never done sales.

Think about how much your opinion is actually worth.

Just saying...

Dude, because of this thread, I made my first ever cold call. Actually made 2 calls= 2 sales for my blog :D Made $1750 in flat 3 days. you are awesome man

Where are you? Miami?

That's exactly the point. I am a natural engineering salesman - I am an engineer, I know engineers, and I can sell to em like crazy.

BUT my web sales geared towards the health niche were miserable until I realized that you sell to Joe Sixpack MUCH differently than you sell to people like me.

I read CA$HVERTISING and was blown away. I wrote some ad copy that I FUCKING HATE but guess what - It converts like a mofo. Just not with geeks like me.

Nice thread. Cold calling is not for the weak, but dammit if you can't make a mint if you are good it.

As a business man, this is my biggest issue - building initial repore. Once the ice is broken, I'm pretty fucking good at flipping one-time clients into repeats, but it's the initial mountain that side-fucks me every time.

Forget about picking up the phone and cold-calling. Never done it before, wouldn't even know how to get started.

You'd start by picking up a telephone. :)
