Seems to be live already. Not sure how I feel about this..

That's a pretty massive change ... time to optimize for shorter keywords?

Not live for me yet.. but "It will take a couple days for Google Instant to be available to everyone on Google.com. Check back soon if you do not see it yet."

Did this start yesterday by chance? I noticed a drop of 1000 UV's for 2 of my sites that generally get around 4k per day. Other sites with similar traffic didn't move though, so it might just be a fluke.

What I don't like is that it's a fucking distraction. If people are searching for even one of my 2 keyword phrases, before they even get done typing the first word, there's shit popping up that they just might click on because most web searchers are easily distracted by shiny metal objects and things with colors, i.e. they lose focus easily and have no attention span. I hope this dies a quick death.

Funny it won't let you use the instant search feature on certain words, but if you hit enter all the results still come up like normal. Try typing in "boobs"

It's been giving me seizures all morning. Everything jumping around like that...

I would say the opposite, since it's combining search suggest with the instant changes, I would think it makes people feel like they need to go longer tail.

Like, I start typing "cars" and it shows me cars.com and autotrader.com, but suggest thinks I should add "for sale" so I continue typing "cars for sale" and now I get autotrader.com and some others, but suggest keeps going and adds "denver, co" and now I'm seeing names I recognize from local ads.

Dunno, we'll see how it plays out if they keep it going for more than a week.

Going to this url will turn it on. It is a fucking trip. I am wired. No sleep for me. Off to tweak shit.

Google

Really really good innovation. Let's wait for other gazillion webpages like ebay, amazon etc implement this.

How impressions are counted

When someone searches using Google Instant, ad impressions are counted in these situations:

The user begins to type a query on Google and clicks anywhere on the page (a search result, an ad, a spell correction, a related search).
The user chooses a particular query by clicking the Search button, pressing Enter, or selecting one of the predicted queries.
The user stops typing, and the results are displayed for a minimum of three seconds.
We recommend monitoring your ads' performance the same way you usually do. Google Instant might increase or decrease your overall impression levels. However, Google Instant can improve the quality of your clicks since it helps people search using terms that more directly connect them with the answers they need. Therefore, your overall campaign performance could improve.

uhhh... GOODBYE CTR - while this thing is new people are gonna play with it. Goodbye CTR, goodbye quality score.

Your point makes sense, but it may not be so because on on the other hand, people are seeing results instantly as they type...

We'll see which takes precedent over the other..

Interesting. Do you have a link for this data?

I wouldn't worry about it too much, everyone else is in the same boat.
