Um, I mentioned them once. Because it's a case study, and I used them.

You don't know how few fucks I give about selling $25 SEO services to SEOs. That's not my focus.

I've removed the fifth part of the case study and have just written a note about how I try to keep my black hat shit from getting me penalized.

I'm surprised you didn't just make 10 more of these sites and call it day, not even bother with selling services

Hard to not bother with a high end $xx,xxx income from helping other webmasters rank...$xxx,xxx for some I'm sure. Lot's of opportunity there to even roll back into your own campaigns.

I might pull all the services soon. It's just a hassle and only makes 2-3 K /month. It used to be guaranteed 15k+...

I'm trying. Got quite a few on the bottom of page 1.. These terms are so low-traffic that you're either top 3 or you're nowhere.

I'm actually looking to sell this site off for ~12K within the next 3 weeks.

That was my first thought, but I respect danke so I figure if that was his reaction, why risk it... no big deal.

Pretty sure he doesn't see the value in this because he doesn't do SEO for a living. He prefers to see value in owning a brokerage. ;)

I like how you mentioned to pursue links from the sites already on Page 1. Seems like a no brainer, but I doubt the majority actually do this efficiently across a good keyword set.

And also, props on working in a market with actual monies in it!
 
I get why you posted it to your blog. Fuck guys like Danke, they are a dime a dozen. When you have haters, you're doing something right.

When building niche-relevant backlinks, do you not worry about whether the links are dofollow? Otherwise I would have thought the posts would be wasted effort.

As long as you get the linked url indexed by other means, a no-follow backlink will still add value. But if you only have no-follow backlinks, it'll never get indexed so the value doesn't matter.

Don't worry too much about it. I still go out of my way for them.
 
  • Facebook/Twitter social comments (ajax-based) get indexed fine. So set up a twitter, link from the twitter to your website, and then use the twitter to comment.
  • Dropping completely anchorless links into a comment cannot be disabled in the administrative interface and is invisible to the moderator. I will literally drop 1000+ invisible-to-the-admin links on gawker, salon, and my biggest competitors. Stop. Read that again. It’s Gold. No one knows but you and I.

Any chance of expanding on your process for creating the network of support sites then as these obviously play a large part in your ranking strategy?

More then just a nice post, there are golden gems in here.

I do (try to) get the same links as all the top 10/20 competitors, still use directories (no they aren't dead), also with the use of imacros I created a few automation tools to get high profile backlinks as you mentioned.

Funny thing is I noticed that in some niches (non engrish ones) I have to stop in the middle of the proccess to make my link building look "normal" and to keep some cards in my pocket to play in the future if needed.
 
Excellent post, also for those go get it, this is also a fantastic way to sell in any industry online or offline. I know Frank Kern is a goowoo and all, but this reminds me of the whole "results in advance" stuff he talks about which is solid gold.
