2013 NFL Free Agency

Although $108 million sounds like a lot, only $55 of that is guaranteed. Now, I still think that's pretty nuts, but he probably won't play long enough to see the entire $108.

John Schneider owned this offseason.

They made 1 move. A big move, but how is that owning anything?

It's all front loaded. Even though the team saves cap room this way, he'll average $19MM for the first 3 years...which is a joke in of itself.

Breaking down Tony Romo's contract - Dallas Cowboys Blog - ESPN Dallas

I still don't understand the reason for these long contracts given to players like Romo who will be 34 next year. He could be done in just a few years and yet he got more guaranteed money than Flacco, a guy who was also overpaid.

also... for the romo haters (some of it is justified)

but hardcore cowboy fans will still remember the post aikman/pre romo days. They were UGLY! Romo is a top 15 qb for sure and if you have a top 15 QB you have a shot. I don't care what his playoff numbers say. That is such a small sample size.

from 84 - 96 Elway had a mediocre 7-7 playoff record. He finally won the big one his last 2 years going 7-0 during that span. He was 37 and 38 his last 2 years.

Romo is 1-3 so far. (Big deal) That's too small of a sample size.

Here are some tony romo facts:

5th all time passer rating (better than Montana, Marino and Favre to name a few)

6th all time Passing %(better than Montana, Marino,Brady and Favre to name a few)

Was he overpaid? Sure. But you can have a set roster with no QB and get nowhere fast.

What is dallas supposed to do? You get rid of romo you are going to rebuild. By the time they get another top 15 qb Dez Bryant will be near 30, Murray, Austin and Witten will be on the brink of retirement and it will take a few years to build around that new qb.

Dallas did the right thing, no matter how many people hate romo.

In addition to landing Percy Harvin, Scheider and Carroll went out and got Cliff Avril and Michael Bennett, two of the top rated DL in free agency. The Seahawks are more loaded than anyone right now.

I do agree you need a QB, but as other teams have shown you can have success with drafting a young stud. Granted so much money is spent on QB's the inevitable busts really hurt.

But look at teams like Seattle, San Fran, Washington who decided to go out and get young franchise guys.

If you remember first few weeks of last season, you'd remember that everyone was throwing Romo under the bus. Especially week 4 against the Bears where he threw 5 picks. There where also tons of O-Line issues last year.

I don't know, I guess there are a lot worse out there then him. However in order for them to be successful they are going to have to fix the O-Line, and if you're dumping all this money on Romo, it's less money under the cap to do it. It's just another bone headed move by the Cowgirls. They won't be going anywhere anytime soon.

I stand corrected. The seahawks official site needs to update their transactions page.

Impressive off-season indeed. Scary, actually.

SeaHags will never win a SB unless the game is played in Seattle (which it never will due to rain/cold). Lolz. 49ers baby :)

Oh noes, a Whiners fan.

We have quite the rivalry brewing in the NFC West, don't we? Expect to fall short of the NFC title for the next 10 years.

Hawks Rule!

Lol, I think ol' Russel has the market cornered on short. How does it feel to be the only team to lose a playoff game to the Falcons during the Mike Smith/Matt Ryan era?

The only way you guys make the superbowl is with home-field advantage throughout. If we win at your house during the season, your year is done.

And Dick Sherman will be a marked man after being nabbed for roids and thinking he's some kind of god just for earning a stanford degree. Anyways, should be fun.

They made 1 move.

Didn't read any further. Fucking Bears fans, you're all the same. Please let the Bears make the playoffs so Avril, Bennett, Clemons, Bryant and Irvin can tee off on Cutler after running through that turnstile you call an Oline.

Edit: Love the Martellus Bennett signing, he's one of the most underrated signings off the season. Fantasy money in that offense in '13 for those who think Gronk/Graham/Hernandez in the first three rounds is too rich.

Why oh why does it seem like the ravens are just betting everything on Flaco? They've gutted their defense for that big bird looking fuck

At the start of this upcoming season the Ravens will have a better defense than they did when they won the Super Bowl.
