This has been getting a bit of press coverage in the UK - today

24HOUR-STARTUP.COM

Basically, 2 webdesign companies got together and spent 20K worth of man-hours to build a business in 24 hours.

What did they come up with?

http://drhue.com/

A fucking affiliate datafeed site that sorts the feed by color. And then they get the press wetting themselves over it.

Words fail me.

This is the time when I reply and say "One 22 year old with a 6 pack of redbull did this in half the time, alone!"

you are right, that is fucking pathetic.. that can be thought of/coded/designed in under an 2 hours

Not exactly rocket surgery. On a side note, imagine what we could do in 24 hrs with some of the people here. Between all the design, development and marketing talent around here...I bet the results would be nuts.

A perfect example of the power of good marketing. The product itself stinks, but the marketing behind it clearly doesn't.

If we could all do that side of things as well as they can, then we'd all be very rich.

I say we just pool our money and go to ebay and buy it (currently at $660).
Then we just redirect any future traffic to MakeMonies.

Now THAT would be newsworthy.

They should be ashamed to proudly announce it took them 24 hours to make that idea reality.

Lex has a better/similar idea in his sig. Group Google buyout, and redirect the link for the Google Image Search to MakeMoniesOnline. 10,000 free anatomy lessons per second.

We will be heroes.

The part that I think is really pathetic is this: I went to the site and picked "purple," and 20% of the results on the first page were not purple.

I mean, if your pathetic site only does one thing, shouldn't it at least do that one thing?

Close?

I think it's a cool concept - it wasn't designed for us and it obviously won't appeal to us.

Here's the concept done right - women's handbags, ladies shoes | Like.com

Edit > It used to be better. They need to step back and rethink usability, but a lot of the things they can do are cool. E.g. select a part of a product image and find other products similar in shape, color etc.

Well - it's worked for them as a PR stunt, so good luck to them I suppose.

Although living 20 miles from London means I come across with self-inflated media twats on a regular basis, so this still irks me.

"Nonsense" about sums it up. Why do they all have to have wanky names?

I'm going start a "Digital Media Agency" called Speculum.

How much traffic does it/will it get?

How much will it prob sell for?

How many people are gonna put some cash together?

How much is everyone gonna pay?

I'm down for taking some unsuspecting fools for a spin.
