700lb man dies stuck to La-Z-Boy

I always feel disgusted at these people for allowing this shit to happen to them.

Am I a bad person?

Nope not at all, I feel the same way. I don't feel sorry for people like that in the slightest. They're eating themselves to death while children starve in other places.

the thing about this one is he got himself there in the first place, but messed up his knee in some way and was just plopped down in the chair and left to die basically.

Yeah and don't get me wrong...I've known people with bad glands or whatever that can't help the weight gain. But most of the time you can change your situation if you try hard enough.

His wife killed him. If I was her, I would bring him small healthy meals throughout the day and tell him that if he wanted something else or more food, he would have to get off his fat, sored ass and get it himself... He would likely burn several hundred calories just moving that weight to the kitchen and when he got there, I would have all the food on a cart and keep moving it away from him.

Actually, this may not have been possible. If he moved around the house, he might have rocked the trailer right off the cinder blocks.

Nah, what's really sad is the guy just gave up - and his wife let him sit there and die over money. He sat there in a chair over an eight month period without help because overweight people cannot get insurance. I've seen some very overweight people get on medical programs and get down to normal weight and then go on to live productive lives. But it's really expensive and you cant do it without insurance or winning the lottery.

I took my kid in for three stitches on his hand and it was $1200.00 for that one 45 minute trip (and that's the Catholic hospital that isn't supposed to be making huge profits). Kinda pissed me off when I read the bill - felt like I was seriously overcharged.

They all blame everyone else - doctors blame lawyers, lawyers blame insurance companies, insurance companies blame congress, congress blames the uninsured.

All I know is 6 of 10 nices houses in my subdivision are owned by doctors, two by lawyers, and two by politicians.

The hospitals themselves are overcharged for materials. If you were to look at what the hospital itself pays for those stitches you'd be surprised. Add in doctor and nurse salaries, administrative overhead..

All in god's will. Spreading the gospel over the internets while you eat, shit and piss in your recliner for 8 months, ultimately to be with the almighty.

Heaven is a little lopsided now.

EDIT: Oh, look he didn't have insurance. That explains everything.

going to echo the opinion of I blame the wife more than anything

...and AMA-enforced monopolies limiting the supply of doctors, interventionism distorting the connection between price and who pays it, interventionism complicating the entire industry on both sides...

Edit: I don't feel sorry for this guy one bit. I wouldn't be surprised if his wife was tried on some form of manslaughter though.
