A Good Beer...

i tried fruili strawberry beer for the first time this summer (seasonal). not many cats can hang with fruit beers because they figure "beer should taste like beer" and while i agree this is usually true, it is nice to have the occasional treat and expand the palate. you aren't going to drink ice wine all the time either but once in a while it's awesome.

Trapist beer. If you ever get the chance, try it. This has to be one of the finest if not the best beers I've tried, at least according to my taste buds.

This thread is killing me. I have no beer in the fridge. Probably will not be the case tomorrow.

Warsteiner - A typical German pilsner. This one really didn't have anything special about it. Malty but smooth. If I had a choice of this or Penn Pilsner, I would probably grab the Penn. I'll give this one a 7/10.

You sound like a hops kinda guy. If you want a good hoppy beer, you need to move to IPA's. My personal fav is Big Sky IPA, the fruity characteristics balance nicely with the hops. I like the Sierra Nevada Pale Ale as well, a good go to for decent hop flavor. Their Harvest Hop Ale ain't bad either. If you really wanna blow your head off with the hops, go for something like Avery Maharaja or if you are really feeling the hops try maybe a Dog Fish Head 60, 90 or 120 minute IPA. For the ultimate hops experience try the Flyng Dog Double Dog or the Samuel Adams Imperial Pilsner.

I like Flying Dog "Tire Bite", and just about any German heffeweisen. I liked Blue Moon's summer-only "Honey Moon", but I'm not big on bitter. I also like my beer ice cold.

Of course there are some things that a little bitter goes well with. The brats and potatoes you mentioned.. pizza.. Mexican food. Anything real starchy or spicy hot.

I'm also a fan of Unibroue. Add La Fin Du Monde (translates to 'end of the world') to the list. It, along with Maudite, needs to be served in a wide mouthed glass. This one ideally.

It's triple fermented and they don't strain the sediment because they also ferment in the bottle. By the time you get it the yeast should all be dead, but every now and then a bottle will burst in storage.

I love LFdM because it's a strong beer that actually tastes like beer, and damn good too, and it's not an overwhelmingly and cloyingly sweet novelty. (As much as I bitch about Trafalgar, I've also had some awesome barbecues which were made much more entertaining with the help of three Korroptors)

Innis & Gunn is.. unique. Couldn't handle more than a sip, just way too damn sweet for me.
