Affiliate Manager Job?

There's a local internet marketing company looking to hire an affiliate manager.

Most of my career experience is in sales and marketing, so I think I'd be great at acquiring and dealing with new clients, and since I'm getting into internet marketing myself I'm thinking it could be a great learning experience.

Not sure what the pay would be like, and I'm definitely not looking to take a pay cut.

Anyone have experience or advice here? I realize that working for someone else versus yourself sucks, but until I can work for myself I think this could be a cool way to get more involved in the industry.

Probably would be based on the affiliates under you I would imagine. You bring big hitters to the table and I'm sure you could make some big coin. If you don't and take what they give you you'll probably eat bread and water.

Yea, like Smaxor was saying - Affiliate managers are mostly paid on a performance basis, just like their affiliates. Think of it like being a 2nd tier affiliate with a better per-signup rate.

However, with that in mind, if you feel that you can really do a good job at recruiting affiliates and helping them run your offers, there is definitely some good money to be made.

Is it a network, or just a specific company with an affiliate program? What's the niche?

Are you talking about managers for a cpa network or a merchant?

I always had a base salary as an affiliate manager and would negotiate a performance piece on top.

Yeah, Shawn, sorry I wasn't more specific. Yes, most AM's get a base salary which is probably just enough to get by the first couple months and not much more.

A long established affiliate program or network might pay differently, but in every affiliate management situation I've ever been in the focus has always been pay for performance in terms of growing the affiliate channel.
