I feel like it some times.

Should have noted.

The reason it's in my car is because I had to take it to the deer processor/butcher otherwise it would go bad. Couldn't take my truck as it wouldn't start so I had no other option then throwing it on a tarp in the trunk of my $500 chevy lumina.

Haha... nice... Your clearly not the biggest redneck, otherwise you wouldn't need to take it to a processor... You would gut it, take out the back straps, quarter it up and leave it in a cooler for 3 days on ice to drain the blood out! :D

I'm half way there. I stayed up to 2 AM while it was 33 degrees out in a T shirt to gut the deer (Thus why there's blood on the bumper) and let the blood drain out overnight.

I take all my deer to a local amish guy who does the processing, he's amazing.

Curious what some of you guys use for splitting that pelvic bone? Even with a hatchet it's a pain in the ass

Do you carry that out in the woods with you?

No, you can pretty much gut it with a sharp folding knife. I keep that and some surgical gloves in my fanny pack. Most important is cutting around the anus and keep the piss and from spilling. We hang the deer back home and get out the power tools. Hardest part is pulling off the hide. There's some interesting vids out there of guys using 4 wheelers to yank it off.

I use a saws-all as well or hack saw... Just depends on where I am doing the work. More often then not, I get the deer back to camp where I have the proper tools.

Maybe it's not necessary, but I always cut that bone in the field to avoid the spillages and get that shit out ASAP. If you don't split it while dressing what are you doing? Are you pulling the anus back up through the pelvis? By splitting it right out in the field it makes for a cleaner job and typically reduces the chance of contamination.

As to getting that hide off I typically just cut around hind legs and slowly work down pulling and cutting with a really sharp blade that thin film/skin that it's attached to. I have also heard using a tennis ball and working it between works well

Yup. My problem with the hide was we were on week long hunting trip and I shot mine the first day. Not really in to processing a deer when you got beer to drink and cards to play. It much easier to do within 4 hours or so of killing it. I'm sure there are a lot of good tricks but it's more fun to have some buddies around to supervise, drink beer and give you shit.
