Anyone else have a webcam on their laptop?

durrrrrr, can they still listen to it if I turn it off completely? (but with the battery still inside)
You decide.

FBI taps cell phone mic as eavesdropping tool | Tech News on ZDNet

Kaplan's opinion said that the eavesdropping technique "functioned whether the phone was powered on or off." Some handsets can't be fully powered down without removing the battery; for instance, some Nokia models will wake up when turned off if an alarm is set.

In a recent interview the CEO of google stated that they keep all kinds of information based on you and your associated surfing habits. This cockface also said in his interview that they are supporters of thepatriot act and that if you are doing something questionable on the Internet, or visiting sites that may be deemed dangerous or innapropriate, that perhaps you shouldn't be engaging in that type of behavior because you are being watched/databased. Like, who the fuck is this guy to say what is appropriate or not...

Also, several years ago there was some buzz surrounding some google conversation about development stating that google was exploring some new technologies that would have the ability to use your webcam's microphone that is built in to listen in on your environment or discussions that you may be having and then serve you associated ads. For instance if the software was running and it detected a dog barking in the background, you might get served 1800petmeds ads or if it detected you talking about hunting it might serve you academy ads...folks it's not hard to imagine that something like this could be going on when you consider what google has accomplished.

Isn't ironic how both google and government both start with GO? government operation...

Just be careful gang and don't be surprised when you get served ads for ky jelly when your microphone detects you fappppppin away to the latest tits thread.

Jus sayin, big brother is always watching. Just like when you drive he is there watching you via stop light cameras.

I got one on my macbook.

And I definitely remember Sub7 back in the day.

I don't do anything to mine because it only turns green when its on and I never have it on. Never had it blink on me either. I have had other mac users I know put a lil electrical tape on there, but it just makes the paranoia so obvious.

Besides who'd want to look at my face?

No webcams for me.

My PC notebook doesn't have a webcam, and I keep my MBP's isight disabled as I never use it ( TMO Quick Tip - Disabling a Built-in iSight Camera || The Mac Observer )

I have a webcam for my desktop pc that I just unplug when not using it.

As for the phone tap - that's a con for iphone users since we can't take out the battery. I always leave my phone in my car when visiting my dealer for this reason. Not that I think the gov would admit invasion of privacy over a little mary jane - but I'm not going to risk getting my dealer in any trouble.

Thanks for the duct/painters/electrical tape suggestions...

I don't like putting tape on my baby.

its not paranoia if its really happening...

We know....some of us here use to be the ones pulling it off....

Script kiddie style...I'm basically the same thing today, lol, now I just make money with it.

I know...someone already mentioned bifrost.

Besides, I said right off the bat that I don't think it's a trojan....but yet you seem to have indentified the exact one that you think I have, magically.... (maybe you're better than the virus scanner on my laptop?)

Thanks a zero! (besides, I just uninstalled my cam drivers and that solved my problem)
