End of the rainbow
This should be interesting. I can guess what the majority of responses will be, but just curious if there's anyone else out there in my shoes ...

Long story short I've made a small fortune promoting bullshit like biz opps, dating, etc. over the years. Both as an affiliate and an advertiser. And for the past few years I've hated every minute of it.

In the beginning, money was all that mattered, and all that was necessary to motivate me. Of course, once you make a little coin it's no longer that big of a motivator (at least not for me).

Once I reached a certain point I said fuck it I'm done doing this meaningless bullshit. I wrapped up a bunch of loose ends, shut down a handful of projects, and turned over a handful of sites to other people. I just finished transitioning my last site to a partner who's going to manage it and just send me a check for half every month.

Now I know a lot of people only care about money, especially the younger crowd, but does anyone else struggle with the lack of meaning and lack of value created by most of what most of us are doing?

I'm going to revisit a few "real" businesses I've either contemplated or half-finished over the years, or maybe think of something entirely new. I'm just sick of doing bullshit that provides no value and quite frankly is no fun any more.

It's hard to give up the "easy" money, but it got to the point where I was literally bored out of my mind doing the same old shit and hated what I was doing and it just wasn't worth it any more ...

There are still a TON of offers and products that provide real value. You just need to look in the right places, do your research, and maybe not pick the product with the highest CPA payout and the largest, sleaziest rebill?

Why not make your own products or some shit or build a real company? Pretty easy solution especially if you have capital. Go start a t-shirt company, go invent something, go provide some value.

This is one of the reasons that I am building a huge site that I enjoy. It is actually a hobby of mine and I am adding 2 articles a day to that site. Yes it is monetized but this is going to be my anchor site for future expansion.

I have a mentor that helped me out when picking a niche as I was having a very difficult time of it. He told me to pick a niche that I really enjoyed so that I would finish it. Well I did and yesterday I found a writer for that niche (I hate to write but I love SEO) and installed a forum to go along with it all.

I am finding with this site that it really is not going to matter all that much about the keyword competition because it is going to be so large it will get traffic.

Go with your heart but remember you still have to eat.

Jeepers so promote something that creates value for the customer. In the long run you build a business that can last for years, maybe decades.

Only problem is latency ie it will take longer to get off the ground than the shady stuff. But really, that's about the only problem.

And you're not looking over your shoulder anymore. Big plus.

I know what you mean. A lot of the offers you use to only see a late, late night TV, or infomercials. Main stream decency seems to gone out the window. Diets are a prime example. Many fat asses out there want a lazy persons way to lose weight and instantly become Swartzenegger or Julian.

Pubs offer them false hope because they are lazy and stupid. The old P.T. Barnum attitude sorta thing.

Those of us that are older ( greater than 20-30) have developed a mind set that this is wrong. We have been down to many roads in life.

I guess it all biols down to the morals of the pubs that push this kind of thing.

Oh well, less competition. When I get bored with a site I just slap adsense on it, forget about it, and get my direct deposits each month. I'm mainly into SEO though, not sure what your history is.

Anyways, for me this game is (and always was) all about creating cash flow for bigger and better things (perhaps what you refer to in your post as "real" businesses).

What could be more fulfilling than providing lazy fat people with the means to hypothetically lose weight?

I'm a big believer in "if you don't like it, do something about it." You've had success, so venture into something else.

I eventually want to go to vet school, and affiliate marketing is going to allow me to pay cash to do just that.

Let me venture a guess..... Your going to re-bill your customers for heartworm medicine... :)
