Ok so hows this for a complete fuck up of a situation.

I design a nice lp and get on the band wagon with grants. Start the campaign and google loves me. 500k impressions in two hours and a shit ton of clicks.

Leads start rolling and all is good in Dave land.

Anyone who read my acai epic failure knows that Im still testing the waters with cpc so this is a big deal to me.

Suddenly the leads stop despite consistent clicks and ctr off the lp.

I ask my AM to double check and he's like yeah you actually got another 6-8 leads but they were from the same IP so we scrubbed them.

WTF!!!?

My LP for this offer and others has always pushed the user to get a couple because its such good value etc etc and I have got multiple leads of a click on other nws and other offers.

So by losing 6-8 leads I'm down on the offer.

If I had of got them I would have hit my first $600 day which is a massive landmark for me.

This sucks and I feel very fucked over.

The leads were delivered legitemately - no blackhat bs.

I am not going to name the nw I was running this with - I will give them 24hrs to respond. I expect to be credited for the leads.

Would love to hear other peoples experience on this.

Dave

Its kinda the principal of it now.

Not to mention the negative roi for the day which in itself matters to me when Im trying to hit weekly wires and build cash flow to really hit aff marketing full time.

But yeah alexb - im that way inclined atm

Oh yeah, I know exactly how you feel. I remember back when I was running green tea offers over the summer, five or six leads could make a break a day.

I'm basically saying that the network is full of shit and they probably know it. Fuck 'em.

Definitely push them to give you the leads.

However, you should be split testing your offers anyways. You might find that you get much better results through different networks. This is the code I use to split test:

Code:
<?php
$links = array(’http://www.affiliatelink1.com’,'http://www.affiliatelink2.com’);
$link = $links[array_rand($links)];
echo “<meta http-equiv=’refresh’ content=’0;url=$link’/>”;
?>

Good luck with all of it!

I've been looking for something like this but wouldn't that wash the referrer and mess up tracking?

I use it with a lot of prosper202 links. It doesn't fuck anything up, and I always blank the referrer anyways.

Oh I see.

So you would do:

Ad/source > Prosper > page with split testing code > aff network link with sub-id?

EDIT: Sorry for the hijack.

Um, say I'm advertising domain.com.

In Facebook, Adwords, whatever, I would list my destination as domain.com/link.php

In link.php I would use that code, with the tracking links from prosper 202.

So, for example, link.php would look like this:

Code:
<?php
$links = array(’http://www.domain.com?t202=54534&kw=’,'http://www.domain.com?t202=4854543&kw=’);
$link = $links[array_rand($links)];
echo “<meta http-equiv=’refresh’ content=’0;url=$link’/>”;[
?>

That way, it sends half the clicks to the offer on network 1, and half the clicks to the offer on network 2. Everything else you can leave the way you would normally do it.

That sucks, but I find it hilarious that you convince people to enter their credit card multiple times because "it's such a good deal". LoL that's pure awesome! Marketing at it's best!

Good luck with getting those scrubbed leads.

yeah thats the killer part of the lp :)

My AM is going to speak with the advertiser about getting the leads.

Blocking double submits on the basis of same ip is lame beyond lame. It auto flagged with the system and blocked the leads which is total BS.

I know guys banking on like 3 leads of a click to the same offer for some other rebill campaigns.

Will keep this thread updated.

Cheers guys

It's not like the advertiser isn't getting his money for the extra leads so it makes absolutely no fucking sense for you not to get your pennies for being such a fucking awesome marketer.

If the offer is from the same company using the same merchant account an almost immediate double bill will very likely be looked at as fraud..

the latest version of T202 has the option to rotate URLS when your building your campaign

I just had a network try to scrub me because of multiple leads from the same IP. When I checked the ips out, found they all came from aol dial up users. All the leads were also coming from different browsers so I could prove they were really different users. If you are using P202 you should be able to get this data. Same IPs is a pretty lame excuse to scrub you. What network was it with?

You're a fucking retard if you think you're right in this situation..

First off, by telling them to buy it more than once is just STUPID. It's like going to the music store and buying the same CD 2 or 3 times because you heard they have really good songs on it. WTF? Who the fuck does that??

You know what happens when these idiots see multiple charges on their credit card from the same advertiser? INSTANT CHARGEBACK. Do you have any idea how much that costs? Figure price of the per month charge PLUS $20-$30 Visa/MC chargeback fee, for each of the charges. Not to mention they wouldn't even have to argue it with their CC/bank because multiple charges at the same time look like fraud anyway, so the chargeback is almost a guarantee.

When you send sales/leads to the advertiser, I'm glad you're thinking about quality on where they came from, but you are a fucking asshole for even thinking for a second that you're right here. Either send one fucking join or don't send any.

In fact, pm me your full name so I can make sure you never promote for any of my grant offers ever.

And all of you telling him he's right, you're all a bunch of retards too.

Learn how the whole game works or get the fuck out of it.

Game, set, match. Point...Jon. Game Over. End of game!

Why are you complaining again?

If you are promoting the typical grant offer with the two cross sells and the trial for $1.99, that's potentially 4 charges already. And you wonder why the advertiser wouldn't be too happy to get the same customer signed up multiple times? That's 4-8 fucking charges right there.

Let me do the math for you. Mike signs up for two grant offers through your page.

Immediately he gets charged 2x $1.99. After 7 days the rebills kick in, another two $30-80 charges. After 14 days the id theft/protection trial is over and Mike gets 4 charges for $7.99 - $14.99

So what does Mike do when he gets the credit card bill and sees 8 charges totaling $100-$200? He charges everything back. So not only is the merchant out of all that revenue, he has to pay $70-90 in commission and another $100 or so in charge backs. Plus that's 4 charge backs right there, just from one fucking customer.

So you are surprised the advertiser isn't too keen to lose $200 on your damn lead and risk his account?
