Are YOU Too "Proud" 4 Welfare?

The welfare is MY tax money that I paid earlier. Not only I'm not too proud to receive it, I'd run for it the minute I know I am unemployed. It's my money.

Exactly.

I wonder if social security will be turned down by the same people calling it leeching and hand outs when they get old.

Somehow I doubt all those checks will be refused and returned.

Many years ago before I discovered making money online and when I was younger (22 or 23 I believe), I was laid off from my job that I worked at for 3 years.

The owner shut the business down and disappeared, didn't pay us our last 4 weeks wages, and there was absolutely no warning whatsoever. We showed up for work one day and the doors were locked with a note.

So, here I was screwed out of 4 weeks of pay and little to no money in the bank. I had no choice but to accept several weeks of unemployment pay just so I could pay my bills. I did find another job, but without those few unemployment checks, I would have been out on the street.

People who mooch off the system for years are nothing but parasites. But, there is nothing wrong with taking some money to get yourself back on your feet - especially in situations which are completely unavoidable.

I am against welfare because it can be a crutch, and creates dependency and laziness for a lot of people. That said, there is pride (which is a character trait that can be really handy) and there is foolish pride, which is making your children suffer for your ego.

Nothing wrong with these cats getting welfare, but the people who get hurt most in periods of high unemployment are those who can't create work for themselves (which should be the goal of everyone).

I think it was kyleirwin who for the longest time had a forum tag which said, "no one ever loses their shirt with their sleeves rolled up".

Maybe they're already on it, and just too ashamed to tell you :P

I doubt it.

While anything's possible,.. their behavior, remarks, lack of money and food would reinforce they are too lazy, or too proud, to accept it as they had originally said. I also do not care enough one way or the other for them to lie about it. If you, and your kids, need money and food. Take what's available.

Maybe they're already on it, and just too ashamed to tell you :P ( I actually know an AM thats making decent money, but still gets a steady state aid, cuz they don't report their online income ).

ah tax evasion, the proverbial straw that sends even the most hardened criminal to jail. DEFINITELY something to fuck around with.

Yes, but you need to point out the type of person who would sit on his ass and be lazy and just collect is the guy in a 1 bedroom apartment who has calculated he'll make enough on unemployment to stay under his roof and survive, so he doesnt give a fuck.

The hard working guy who makes 100K a year and up isnt going to sit on his ass and collect his $250 a week for long unless he has a ton of money saved and just wants to take a break from the work force for awhile, otherwise he has no choice but to get on the bandwagon to keep his lifestyle.

I have two friends who are unemployed, and to 'proud' to go out welfare or apply to any type of aid.

One is out of work for two years now, divorced, three kids (2/4/6) and had to move back to his parents house....

Given the same circumstances, are YOU to proud also?

In 2004, I was laid off having just bought a house and my second kid was 3 months old.

I haven't been "employed" since then. I mean like a job with salary and bennies and job security and all that stuff.

I mean.... duh... did you tell your friends about this forum yet? What did they say?

The funny thing is these are probably the type of people welfare was intended for. The other lazy scumbags make welfare part of their career plan.

I would read this book before taking welfare..

Anyone can find work. There's always work. Sounds like a bunch of bitches to me.

Mow lawns for 10 bucks, wash cars, work at mcdonalds, suck dick for nickels - whatever makes money, do it, regardless of how shitty the work is.

Lazy fucking people.

yes, too proud for dole. but i'm not too proud to clean toilets, shovel cement, stack shelves, etc. have done all that and would do it again if i had to. would be shit though

If only you had about fifty million friends who qualified and didn't apply - then we could counterbalance the fifty mil that receive it and should not.

It's fine to use government aid for small period to get you back on your feet. But it's not fine when you live solely of government aid and have no intentions to make a living on your own. I live in Brooklyn, NY; and we have some neighborhoods here that have 90% welfare residents, and these fuckers will never opt for a job.

I like the european terms for being unemployed on benefits... "on the dole"... degrade them, etc... it's all a friendly shove. ahaha
