That page was hell funny.

They guy SERIOUSLY takes very, very vague references in the bible like "look how high the stars are" or poetic passages "the stars sing his praise to each other" then mingles it with scientific proof (distance earth - moon, sound and lightwaves) and comes to the conclusion that the only way people could have known that is through G-D.

Yeah, we have some solid science on our hands here. I find it very inspiring.

I deleated my post because I find it pointless. I also find it sad that a lot of people who do not believe in a god say there is "hate" in religion. (islam yes) but there language seems to be ok calling other people stupid. I personally don't believe in a god but if it works for you who am I to say you are wrong and an idiot?
As to you wishing you could ban me for changing my comment or not liking what I say is fucking stupid!
 
Arguing about religion and god usually becomes a lesson in pointlessness. Faith is a hard nut to crack. Faith is believing the bible verbatim. Faith is believing what your parents taught you. Faith can be a very powerful tool, but it can also be very blinding.

I have two questions:
One, ask a Christian if you have to believe in Christ to go to heaven or be doomed to hell and most will answer YES. Where does that leave Native Americans? or Eskimos, or any other group of people that were never exposed to Christ?

Two, where are our miracles? (and not the '80 Miracle on Ice!) In the old testament you have the parting of the red sea, pillars of fire and smoke, in the new testament you have water to wine, walking on water, resurrection, ad nauseum... Why don't we see things like this today? Wouldn't it be easier for peoples faith if they saw some proof? Are we tested harder than "early" man?
 
There are a bunch of different arguments going on in this thread.

For the record, my soapbox is seperation of church and state. You can have you religion just keep it out of the public schools, politics and science and in keep it in your brain and your church. Period.

If the bible beaters can manage that, I'll leave them alone.
 
I would like this to be my last post in this thread as it is getting old, but I thought it might be interesting for me to say this... my observations of people have lead me to believe this:


Stupid People - Believe in God out of ignorance. Were raised Christian and and do not think enough to do something else. It gives them comfort to know that when they or their family members die they go to heaven.

Smart People (Atheists) - Realize the stupid people's dilemma and believe that religion was just made out of people's ignorance to explain the unexplainable. It is not logical for a supernatural being to exist.

The Smartest People - These people have a personal relationship with God. They know that what is happening (secularism replacing Christianity) and the rise of people turning to "logic" and themselves has already been [SIZE=-1] prophecied in the Bible.[/SIZE]
 
So you guys are the smartest for believing in the invisible sky wizard?

emp - you are funny! what do you care if someone else believes in a god? your justification is you don't want them to push there religion on you? It is funny to me that you can't see the hypocrisy in your arguments. Religion is about faith, if you have none that is your problem!

Nope... as turbo, I am championing the separation of church and state.

As a scientist, I am also championing the separation of religion and science.

See, I would let this all lie dormant if not for some boneheads trying to push their religion into schools and science classes.

Next stop: Stonings for working on the holy sabbath.

Are you freakin kidding me? You look at someone's argument of the smart, smarter and smartest people written by a guy who thinks homosexuals are "faggots" and you want to know how I expect my arguments to be taken seriously???
