So, about a month ago, the first dog I had in my life, boxer by the name Thea was somewhat feeling bad and weak and was peeing with spots of blood (Thea was 12 years old), so I decided to take her to vets.

Was there for 5 hours with her, doing all kind of different tests, to determine if she's in pain and what is actually going on with her. She's an old dog and everything could pretty much go wrong, and after all the testing, didn't get any real diagnosis on what was happening, except urinary infection.

While sitting in the waiting room, alone, middle of the night, waiting for her to get her IV liquids, the song comes up on the speakers of the clinic, while there was no music prior to that.

This song

And, music stopped after that, I don't know how and why.

Thea was feeling better and good to go, so I took her home. She was on antibiotics to treat that, and was feeling ok, still lost with vertigo, usual old dog syndrome, and started deteriorating from there.

Thea passed away yesterday, she couldn't fight anymore. She was exhausted. The best loyal buddy in the world. The pain and this weird gap I feel is crazy.

Missing her dearly, I just hope I gave her everything I could. One thing about dogs is that they are always 100% true, no secret motives or holding back. It's so hard... rest in peace!

beautiful dog bro....cried like a baby when my 10 yr old german shepherd passed... I feel your pain. Time is the only thing that helps. good luck.

I feel sorry about that, too.

When time went by you should think about giving another dog a beautiful life cause it seems like you was really focus'd on her, which is good! Dogs are men's best friend. No matter what you're into - they feel it!

Strange situation with that song though!

Sorry to hear it. I can only imagine what I'll feel when one of my guys die.

A little guy we had a few months back died. We only had him for maybe 6 weeks, so I wasn't too attached to him, but his brother and our other labrador were. Little guy got ran over by a car... TWICE! First time just put him in bed for a couple days, then he was fine again. Second time did him in.

I was pretty sad, but I remember seeing my other two dogs. They were heart broken, and just laid there cuddling & consoling each other for a couple days.

She left a boy behind who's with me, so legacy is there. I can feel that he's becoming more and more sad by minute, realizing that something is missing + feeling what I feel.

Also, found this recently by chance, it hit home completely, I couldn't agree more ...

A Dog's Purpose?
(from a 6-year-old).

Being a veterinarian, I had been called to examine a ten-year-old Irish Wolfhound named Belker. The dog's owners, Ron, his wife Lisa , and their little boy Shane, were all very attached to Belker, and they were hoping for a miracle.

I examined Belker and found he was dying of cancer. I told the family we couldn't do anything for Belker, and offered to perform the euthanasia procedure for the old dog in their home.

As we made arrangements, Ron and Lisa told me they thought it would be good for six-year-old Shane to observe the procedure. They felt as though Shane might learn something from the experience.

The next day, I felt the familiar catch in my throat as Belker 's family surrounded him. Shane seemed so calm, petting the old dog for the last time, that I wondered if he understood what was going on. Within a few minutes, Belker slipped peacefully away.

The little boy seemed to accept Belker's transition without any difficulty or confusion. We sat together for a while after Belker's Death, wondering aloud about the sad fact that animal lives are shorter than human lives.
Shane, who had been listening quietly, piped up, ''I know why.''

Startled, we all turned to him. What came out of his mouth next stunned me. I'd never heard a more comforting explanation. It has changed the way I try and live.

He said,''People are born so that they can learn how to live a good life -- like loving everybody all the time and being nice, right?'' The Six-year-old continued,

''Well, dogs already know how to do that, so they don't have to stay as long.''

Live simply.

Love generously.

Care deeply.

Speak kindly.

Remember, if a dog was the teacher you would learn things like:

When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.

Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.

Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure Ecstasy.

Take naps.

Stretch before rising.

Run, romp, and play daily.

Thrive on attention and let people touch you.

Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.

On warm days, stop to lie on your back on the grass.

On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree.

When you're happy, dance around and wag your entire body.

Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.

Be loyal.

Never pretend to be something you're not.

If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.

When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by, and nuzzle them gently.

There comes a time in life, when you walk away from all the drama and people who create it. You surround yourself with people who make you laugh, forget the bad, and focus on the good. So, love the people who treat you right. Think good thoughts for the ones who don't. Life is too short to be anything but happy. Falling down is part of LIFE...Getting back up is LIVING...

Have a great life.

really sorry man. My dog died yesterday too. It sucks.

Well, was my fiancee's dog, but I've lived with her for 6 years and we were buddies. I've had big dogs, small dogs and everything in between, but she was cool in a special way. Here's a pic:

Get another one! Not only does it help you fill that hole in your heart but you are literally giving another dog a fantastic life. A life with people that care about them. There are so many dogs out there that would give their left leg to be your dog.
