Sadly, I've had to uninstall Baldurs Gate due to the pressing need to actually get some fucking work done and not stay up til 3AM trying to kill lichs

But I'd still like to play something at the end of the day to unwind.

Any suggestions for something which is fun, but put-downable, and does't require TOO powerful a PC (I've got an i3 laptop with a ATI radeon 530V card)?

starcraft 2
civ 5 if you can resist the "just one more turn" problem and save

I played Wow for a while -- fun as shit if you have rl friends on the same server -- but can be boring if you're not on a high pop server with plenty of pugs going

@kingfish - both great games, but they'd be out for me. I can't even put a fucking book down if I'm less than 100 pages from the end.

League of legends looks like it could be just right. 40 mins would be perfect

Just pick up a shooter and pub it up if you want short stints of gaming. CoD4 for PC comes to mind.

LoL games can last 1.5+ hours sometimes, and there's a lot of stress when you have to deal with REALLY bad team mates. It's a really teamwork-oriented game, it's a lot more fun with some friends who are around your skill level. Oh, and the "just one more game" feeling you get from LoL can be just as bad as the "just a few more minutes" from WoW.

I've only had 2 games last over an hour.. but by then someone just ends up backdooring :p "Just one more game" really should be "Just need to win my first game for the IP"

But he's right, it's a VERY team-oriented game so go in and be nice to make some friends.

League of Legends will make you go fucking berserk with the people you will have to play with. I consider myself an extremely calm person and I've nearly thrown my keyboard because of that game. I remember reading somewhere that Riot purposely adds feeding AI heroes to games to collect data and then sells "nerd rage" research to other companies. At least you don't get all the leavers you got in DotA. Also I don't think I've ever seen a LoL game reach 90 minutes...seen plenty of DotA games reach that though.

Almost all of the games listed so far are good though. One that hasn't been mentioned that I play a lot of is Team Fortress 2, can jump in and out whenever you want and doesn't necessarily require good hitscan aim that other games require.
