Best steak you've had?

Springbok steak is amazing..

Peter Lugar's in Brooklyn, all the hype turned out to be mostly true. Ruth Chris was overpriced for what you got. Delfrisco's in NYC is pretty good and a great location, but you pay for it.

I wonder if maybe you had a bad night? I've been there several times and have loved it everytime. The thing I like about their steaks vs. some other big name steak places is that they don't seem to do anything to the meat. No salting, no butter, no tenderizers. The real meat flavour comes through.

I have to say I also like the liberal pours they use when making Crown & Cokes :)

Honestly, now that I think about it, the reason I was probably disappointed was because my previous Smith and Wollensky steak experience in Ohio was just THAT much better. So I was comparing it to the only other steak I have had at S&W and it didn't live up to that. Probably why I felt the way I felt. It wasn't that the whole experience was bad, I just probably had too high of expectations set for my steak. Matter of fact, me and my girlfriend had a helluva time, but we both agreed that our meals weren't as good as the other time we went to S&W.

I've been wondering how the top steakhouses in the USA compare with the best Argentinian Parilla's. Any wandering AM's know?

I totally agree with you... Michael Jordan's Steakhouse at Mohegan is like an out of this world experience. They could teach Ruth Chris' a thing or two (such as: it's not necessary to use a stick of butter to make beef taste good if it's a good cut of beef to begin with).

Yep.. although the chateaubriand for two is odd there, they serve the meat vertical on your plate, the bone sticking up, so it looks like a giant upright penis. (I shit you not!) Who is the head chef, Pee Wee Herman?

It's the guy on the right.
