Bitcoin hits $100

Who are 'they'?

Edit: Do we add this to the number of times I have been right in this thread?
If you want to be regarded as an authority, let other people validate your expertise, don't claim it yourself.

Wallets are as safe as keeping money under your mattress.
This is the downside of an industry that is unregulated. Super easy for anyone to rip you off and you have no recompense. If I was an asshole, I would be tempted to start a wallet service. We could call it WickedWallet or something.

Who is the one group that would like to see BTC fail, more than anyone else? What group has the means and the motive to launch an well timed attack? An attack that comes at a time where BTC is having record prices, and public notariaty? A well timed attack that scares newcomers and would be newcomers. Is there any way to prove this group is involved?

When I get home later tonight I will pick up 50 bitcoins. As much as I cannot fathom the amount of speculation going on, this isn't the first time I have been part of a bubble.

Bitcoin business model idea, create a clearing house for financial certification of Bitcoin wallet and other services.

Verify they have insurance, are accountable as a business, have a mailing address, etc. Maybe even verify their reserves.

In the meantime, it would be easy to create a web project called BitVerified or whatever, and offer site badges and shit. Create a trusted BTC network within the larger anonymous BTC network. Easy way to get a lot of traffic and backlinks.

Everytime I've been primed to get into mining Bitcoins I talk myself out of it. Been doing that for the past several years. Think I'll jump in on some mining equipment after the ASIC selling craze dies down.

I am the furthest thing from an authority. I don't need or seek anyone's validation. There are a lot of people that have a hard time seeing past the shiny exterior that is BTC. I have seen way to many people get caught up in things like this, only to be burned. People need to use common sense and not put their financial wellbeing in harms way.

With that said I would never tell anyone not to buy into this. My only validation is knowing, i may have helped someone see both sides before they do.

When I can buy groceries or gas with bitcoins, it will be relevant. Until then, it's still fucking stupid.
