I may change my mind, but I'm thinking of voting conservative for the first time. Usually it's Liberal...but Ignatieff sucks dong.

I've been told by two people very close to me that Harper is evil and he has an "agenda."

So I'm voting for him. Don't tell my wife.

ABC, anyone but conservative.

Fuck I hate harper and his shitty ideas and face and voice...and everything about him.

Harper... just cause i dont want another fucken election!!... And economically speaking, i think Canada faired pretty damn well during the whole recession crisis - banks, housing stable... and this is how we repay them? Oh and this is first time voting cons for me...

If anyone watched the Debates, Harper was the most calm cool and collected of the lot. Of the 4 Parties, the only 2 good Politicians are Harper and Duceppe. People hate on Duceppe and while I may not agree with his policies and agenda, he is a very good politician, as is Harper. Ignatieff is a wind bag and God Bless Jack Layton but a Torontonian will never be PM. Canada hates Toronto too much for that to happen.

And before anyone shits on me and says Harper is a Torontonian, relax, I know he was born and raised here but he is more associated with the West now and that's where his riding is.

Exactly...while people fear a Harper Majority will mean he can basically have free reign to impose his policies, I say let him! Let's see what a Majority Harper Government can do. I myself have been a Liberal vote up until about 6 years ago when I switched over to this new Conservative party. I never really was "For" the Reform Party or whatever else they were called but when the amalgamated with PC, they became interesting to watch.

If Harper has a Majority and screws it up, then I will re-asses, but I think he should be given a fair shake.

Agreed. We made it out pretty good considering.

Plus, I think flip flopping between parties is a waste. I'd rather give 1 party enough time to do what they want and stick with the plan. Rather then stopping and starting over, cancelling stuff and so on. Waste of money.

Although i don't agree that 95% of the commercials are anti other parties...kinda makes them look like petty fools

Plus all the other parties, especially the NDP wants to raise corporate tax to 19.5%....to pay for example:

My cousins friends joke about being on the 'government snowboard team' since they collect employment insurance all winter while they live on the ski hill with their season passes, collecting our tax dollars

Also agreed on the majority, minority governments don't even have a chance to make progress, its like stalemate for 4 years...

I'm torn up between Liberal and Conservative.

Army: I'm conservative.
Healthcare: I'm liberal.
Arctic: I'm conservative.
Immigration: I'm liberal (we definitely need more immigrants. We can't compete on the world stage with only 30 million people)
Quebec status: I'm liberal
Taxes: I'm conservative.

I really don't know at this point...

Well we can dump on our pols all we want, but just be glad we didn't/don't have to ride the Bush-Obama train.

Foly Huck, I never voted liberal in my life but present events happening down south caused me to revise my opinion of Martin/Chretian... upwards.

Voted conservative last time because i thought they were the righteous party that stood above corruption. Turns out they were just as bad if not worse than the Liberals. They steal out of the tax payers pocket at every chance. G8 50mil cash dump in Conservative riding, funnelling tax money to their campaign illegally, refusing to comment on the F-35 costs ... completely undemocratic.

I can't vote NDP or Green cause they would raise my corp tax but if I vote liberal I'm voting for a party that was just as corrupt like 5 yrs ago.

You can't win ... we should change the electoral system to proportional representation and that way we'd only get elections once every 4 years and it wouldnt matter if there were minority gov'ts. Basically all the democratic countries in the world besides the US/UK and Canada work this way.

Seriously though I hope Harper gets the majority he's so wanted.

Contrary to how the Liberals try to spin it the policies of the Harper government haven't prevented a majority, it's been Harper's personality. I know he's tried very, very hard to become more of a sympathetic figure hiring a personal image consultant and speech therapist to try be perceived as he truly intends to be perceived... and he's getting better.

Harper is an economics freak and a piano player. That's just him. He's a recluse and, again, contrary to what people would have you believe isn't tied to the big oil/bank interests.

Harper, Flaherty and Ashfield (the inner circle of Canadian finance) are all very libertarian leaning opposed to how they may be perceived by their policies because they need to get things passed. With needing the support of a far left party any deregulation, tax break, etc. is incredibly tough to get through.

Ashfield is my MP, a family friend and the only politician I donate to (and he gets, quite frankly, quite a bit). In a world of politicians that have been failures in life or are just puppets for corporate interests the true inner circle around Harper (the three of them) are really the only adults in Ottawa. Flaherty I often question, I believe he's no where near as genuine as Harper or Ashfield.

They truly do have the interests of the country at heart and they're the ultimate decision makers. People like MacKay are an absolute puppet for oil companies and private defence contractors and Harper's pushed him in particular out refusing to associate with him.

It's almost comical to watch these guys actually act (through the perspective of Keith) as actual adults and the rest of the MPs and opposition as children. The G8 in their vast economic wisdom demand "stimulus" funding so they go along with it except they hold up most of it in the treasury knowing the economy will get better by market forces and that any "stimulus" is just a costly phycological trick essentially.

...And low and behold Canada has been the fastest to come out of the economic disaster and because it's not enough to simply say, "well the market has corrected itself" they use the stimulus as an almost excuse knowing that it's better to say that then to get into economic policy.

These guys are really biting at the bit to start doing what they know is best for the country to make it financially stable moving forward. I support Keith, in particular, heavily because I knew him when he was running against Andy Scott (Liberal) and his economic stance and aspirations for this country are almost flawless. I also know his largest donors, the guy is as clean and straight as any politician could possibly be.

And before people start saying I just want a contract or I'm a greedy capitalist wanting to just pay less in corporate taxes so old people die in the streets, I pay 5-10% in tax a year. Almost everything is diverted away from Canada now. I have no financial benefit by donating to the party or being involved in it.

I'm simply patriotic. I want prosperity for every income bracket and race and I believe a conservative majority will make exactly that happen.

If you vote for the Liberals normally and plan to now please read over their platform and understand what they're trying to do. These are not the Liberals of the 80s and 90s, which were almost essentially what this Conservative minority is. These Liberals know, if they have a hope of winning, that they need to draw on the NDP base NOT the conservative base.

The Liberals of yesterday are not the Liberals of today, and it's unfortunate because we've had many decent (not ideal in my perspective, but decent) Liberal leaders over the past few decades.
