Been had college discussions but I thought I'd share.

Just watched the video thru the end and I think it's BS.

They're pushing buying physical silver and gold towards the end.

and Online college degree because India does it?

LOL!

1 US engineer = 10 Indian engineers.

Can I get a quick tl;dr as I don't have enough time to watch the video right now?

EDIT: Watched the first three minutes and that custom textbook quote is bogus. Most professors buy those cause they're hella cheap and only contain the information actually covered in the course. The last custom book I bought was only $50.

I have only watched 8mins into this and its already total bullshit.

The price they give ($27k a year) is for PRIVATE colleges, not every college. Not everyone comes out with this 100k in debt bullshit they are pushing. Not everyone goes to private schools.

I mean who doesn't already know that private colleges are expensive? You pay more because they are supposed to be more prestigious. No one is forcing you to go to a private school, no one forces you to go to a out of state school. A state school tuition for the year is like 3.5k not 27k. This doesn't even take into account grants or scholarships available.

While it lasted I had Florida 'Bright Futures' for having a 3.5GPA out of high school. It paid for 75% of my tuition for a 4 yr degree. I worked a full time job my entire college career, and also got a Pell Grant (2k) each semester for being poor. I went to a community college, and a state school. It took me 6 years to get a 4 year degree, I ended up with 18k in student loan debt for 6 years, which I have already paid off. Almost all of that 18k was for living expensive not college related. Things like rent, insurance, laptops, food, etc.

If you are to stupid to figure out how to pay for college than you should be to stupid to go to college. The problem is not with the colleges it is with the idiots who are to self entitled to WORK though college, and just take loans the whole time, coming out with massive debt. Let them be idiots, let you be the guy that sells them payday loans.

I've never seen a university charge $3.5k for a year. MAYBE community colleges but that's it.

University of South Florida: University Scholarships and Financial Aid Services - 2008 - 2009 Cost of Attendance - Tuition $3.9k
FAU - Cost of Education 2010-2011 - Tuition $4.8k (I went here)
Student Financial Assistance, UCF - Tuition $4.5k
Cost of Attendance : UF | Office for Student Financial Affairs - Tuition $5k
fsu.edu | Office of Financial Aid - Tuition $4.8k

I also just checked and Florida Bight Futures is available for any student (Florida resident) with a weighted 3.0 or above and a half decent test score. http://www.floridastudentfinancialaid.org/SSFAD/bf/awardamt.htm which will pay for most all of a state 4yr degree.

I pay 11k tuition for my university (not 25). It's not even a state school. It is state-related, but with Corbett's douchebaggery that's not going to mean much at all.

Predictions for this thread:

90% of people who finished college will HATE this film

90% of people who did not finish college will LOVE this film

I'm going to give my 2 cents... Numbers don't lie, people do. I only watched the first 10 minutes and was pretty impressed with the numbers.

I look forward to watching the rest.

This is how people without degrees justify their past decisions.

College is fun, if anything go for the experience. You don't really grow up until you realize your body is only going to go downhill from 25, so might as well have fun learning unless your college is ALREADY getting in the way of your success.

Too many eejits on here talk about "school isn't for ballers"... Okay buddy, when you go from high school to making money to affiliate marketing to something else and realize you have no formal education in anything get back to me.

It's not just about financial success, it's also about expanding your horizons and opportunities.

I've never met anyone hindered because they had a college degree.

I'm also in agreement w/ the specialized degree statement, in terms of economic viability some degrees are just worthless (like communications or liberal arts). I tell people to consider going for mathematics or engineering, to prepare for doctorate or masters, or just go to go. Don't simply go to get a degree and start job hunting unless you KNOW EXACTLY what you want to do.

I'm not using my degree at the moment, but I'm glad I went full scholarship. My degree is in Philosophy... if it matters. I also went because it was more fun than joining the military would of been.

It's worth it even if you don't learn shit. I paid about 80k total and it was well worth it just for the amount of fun I had. It's also the easiest place to network. I met a friend sophomore year who introduced me to affiliate marketing, and thanks to him I don't even need to use my degree.

Your views are obviously biased because you went on full scholarship. I'm not saying you're right or wrong but I don't think you can speak for the people who do have to pay for college. I've met people that 100% regret being in debt as much as they are from college.

Don't know if you've ever taken a stats class (oh the sweet irony there)....

BUT - I've got another quote for you:

Statistics don't lie but Liars use Statistics.

yeah I have, hence the name Loyola in my handle.

.... and complete dumb-asses can fall for statistics, sure. At the same time, statistics + doing your own research can pay dividends. You should try it some time.
